This was our first time here. We visited San Francisco and wanted some fish in the way back. I looked up fish restaurant in Google. This place had very good reviews. But alas , the reviews aren't accurate. It was beautiful inside and out. But, the staff isn't consistent. The front girls attitude wasn't pleasant, almost as if she was asking why we were there. Just eyeing us. She sat us on a tiny two person table. It was very busy around our table. Probably the worst spot. The old ladies around us keep getting up with their walkers . I had to lean forward cause the layout was idiotic. Everything was to tight. Everyone walking past us,Including the staff with empty dishes made it difficult to enjoy the atmosphere. So we decided to order a pork belly roll thing, a firecracker roll. And an upgraded fish and chips thing Also a couple juice drinks,. The silverware had seen better days, with Tanes bent and both sets of knives and forks were extremely scratched up, as if they were purchased at thrift store. No exaggeration. So how's the food? ... Well. The rolls were...eeh. very mediocre. Not much flavor. I was expecting something that pops out, or stands out with the name of Firecracker, one would expect that. But no. Not even close. The food was on par with a typical medium quality chain restaurant. Our server for some reason didn't put in our main order... So we had to wait. Im glad we didn't get the fresh fish, since it was very likely that would be disappointing. I'll say though, the fish and chips were pretty good. . Not amazing. I will go elsewhere for fish next time we go visit San Francisco. But...
Read moreI ordered a lobster and shrimp Louis salad for my husband as he’s been unwell and the photo on their website was the first thing he showed interest in in weeks. I asked for no cherry tomatoes and a different dressing and went to pick it up.
While waiting for the hostess to deal with those ahead of me, I was appalled. People with reservations for inside tables were told to eat outside (it was chilly) or “get out.” This happened repeatedly. When it was my turn, I asked for my to go order. She handed it to me and again said, “get out!”
I didn’t check the salad until I was home. It had 4 shrimp, as pictured. Lots of lettuce. No tomatoes. One hard boiled egg. Some Hawaiian bread pieces. And maybe a tablespoon, if I’m being generous, of lobster bits. No avocado, no asparagus. The blue cheese dressing was missing and a watery vinegar was there.
I called. For $40++ this was a bad joke. I was put on hold for 10+ minutes, then told they were busy, then told I was a liar! I asked for the manager. Omar, the manager sensed I was very angry. I said I wanted a replacement salad delivered. Or, a full refund. We are waiting for the refund.
Could I have been more chill? Maybe? Sure. But when your loved one is super sick and finally sees something that looks like exactly what they want and then you are given a pile of lettuce and an egg! Plus, the service...
Read moreWhile traveling through the area, I was seriously craving some fresh seafood. This spot came highly recommended by the local hotel staff, and with so many great reviews, it felt like a solid choice.
The restaurant itself is pretty vibey with a cute outdoor area and fire pit along with good, clean decor inside.
I was seated quickly near the bar, but unfortunately, that’s where the service kind of fell apart. I sat through about 2–3 innings of baseball (luckily it was on TV) before anyone came by to take my order. My drink never showed up, and my food actually arrived before it did. The bartender was very apologetic and offered to comp a dessert or another drink, which I appreciated — but then the check arrived at the end without a mention of it again.
Now, onto the food: the crispy fish taco was genuinely delicious — light, crunchy, and packed with fresh flavor. The Chilean sea bass taco, though, missed the mark for me. It was a bit too fishy and had more heat than I was expecting, which overpowered the fish itself. The fries were also a letdown — limp and undercooked, not crisp or golden like I was hoping.
Overall, this place was just okay. Would I go back? Maybe, if I was nearby and in a pinch — there’s a lot more on the menu that looks promising. But based on this visit, it didn’t quite live up...
