UPDATE: After a month of playing my guitar, Ive noticed that the battery drains even when its not being played. Pretty sure the technician hardwired the circuit to drain the 9V even when its not plugged in. How pathetic and spiteful. These are some real professionals we're dealing with
Went to this place to get some grounding work on a guitar done and to get a new jack installed. Was returned the guitar with a broken battery terminal and was asked to pay and leave with the guitar in worse condition then when I brought it in. BEWARE, please have your gear checked by THEM before and after you leave the guitar for repair, other wise you might be blamed for damages to your gear that they are responsible for.
Came into this store with a guitar that needed a neck fitted on and tuners installed. And a second guitar which needed a jack soldered on and grounding work done on the electronics to fix some noise issues. When I brought the guitars in, the lady at the front of the store was immediately annoyed that I brought my own parts. She was also vexed by the fact that I didnt have strings on both guitars (why would I? I was getting them both repaired. one for electronics and the other for neck fitting) After that I insisted that she should use whatever jack that she could gaurantee the work for, at which point I agreed to buy the jacks that they had in stock. She also insisted that I should buy strings, so that the guitar could he strung and tested before I would pick it up. Luckily I had a single string handy which I handed to the lady with my guitar. I was told to come back in two weeks to get both guitars when they would be done.
I called in a week later and was told that I could pick up one of the guitars by the tech who was working on it. I came in the following day and the woman at the front of the store was immediately annoyed that I did not wait for both guitars at once. I picked it up and immediately noticed that the string that I gave was not used and the guitar had not been strung. At this point, I asked to test the guitar before I left.
Plugging the guitar in, I noticed there was no noise but there was no signal fron the Piezo pickup at all. At this point, one of the male techs walked up to me and offered a new battery in order to remedy the issue. The battery change made no difference, and I was about to hand the guitar in so that they could fix the damage they had caused. The piezo circuit was working fine when I handed the guitar to them, the jack was just noisy and broken.
Suddenly I noticed that the wires going to one of the battery terminals was broken. I pointed this out to the tech at which point he remarked, "Oh you could take care of that yourself", at which point I turned my face towards him because I wasnt sure if he was joking. I insisted that the battery terminals were fine before I brought it in. After this, he accused me of breaking the terminal while trying to check if they had even done their job, which they hadnt bothered to do. At this point, I continued to insist that I did not break the wire and insisted that he should repair it.
He eventually relented, wasted 30 minutes of my time repairing the battery connecter and I was on my way. I asked if they had started work on the other guitar, at which point the lady at the front desk started to yell at me about how long it took to repair the other one, blah blah blah and how they hadnt started the other guitar yet (as if they weren't being paid for their work and were doing the work for charity). I simply asked for the guitar back because I did not want to have that guitar damaged further.
As with trubadour, Corvallis guitar shops are filled with bitter curmudgeon luthiers with attitude problems. My advice would be to drive to Eugene where the luthiers are much nicer and...
Read morei always come in here to check out their inventory of guitars and pedals, and have bought a few in the past, as well as countless sets of strings. Left my Jaguar with them for a setup as well as a new nut and neck shim. Really sloppy work. Nut wasn’t even replaced. No neck pocket shim from what i can see and feel. Saddles slammed all the way down into the body. No pitch-back on the neck, bridge not raised properly. I’ve done better setups on this guitar myself, at home. It plays like garbage, feels way worse than it did when i brought it in. Atrocious buzz all the way up and down the neck, and for some reason they saw fit to raise the pickup heights to nearly touch the strings. Intonation is spot on though, great work there!! All of this not even mentioning the pretentious, judgmental atmosphere the shop has recently. Tim is very nice and great to chat with, but everyone else there seems like they detest you for even walking in the door, let alone play testing an instrument. Won’t be returning, i’ll just fix...
Read moreA friend of mine had an adjustment on his acoustic here and they made it sound Awesome for around 20 bucks plus they put new strings on his guitar. I took my Taylor in based on his recommendation ,It was so out of wack that two other shops in the valley said it wasn't fixable which I knew was ridiculous. It Was in the shop for only two days before they called and said it was ready when they initially said a week,so that was nice. Got my guitar home and Its perfect! For 40 bucks they adjusted it to perfection! Its sounds better than it did when new! Only thing that disappointed me was they put the old worn put strings back on. Was expecting some new strings with the work I had done solely because they put new ones on my friends and he paid less. Its ok I'll throw some new elixers on and Im more than happy about the work they...
