When I first moved here, I was always wondering where I can get my sushi fix. Coming from Seattle, expectations of sushi in Corvallis was low considering the hundreds of sushi places I can easily get to back in Washington. However, one of my friends whom I've met at church was excitingly recommending Sada Sushi to me. At first I was skeptical but it was coming from someone who goes to Japan every year and whom just gotten back. Ok, I have to try it. Not only that, she gave me and my wife a list of specific things to order JUST so that we can have an amazing impression of Sada Sushi. And now, whenever we have people come from out of town and we want to show them something nice, we order some Sada's Sushi. Here was her go-to list and I will comment on each one: Amaebi - Wow, one of our favorites! I cannot decide whether I like the raw shrimp more or the extra crunchy-it-might-hurt-you shrimp head. Personally one of my favorites. Ika - Raw squid roll and it was my first time eating raw squid straight up. I thought it was interesting but if I'm honest... I'm still trying to get used to that texture. Ika Geso - WOW, deep-fried squid legs on skewers. The flavor on this thing is amazing!!! This appetizer is how you WANT to start the meal. (Shiso) Toro Rolls - This is premium as premium can get. I try to get fatty tuna rolls at every high-end sushi restaurant and most of the time, you can't go wrong with a piece of meat that is so fatty it just MELTS in your mouth. Sada's Shiso Toro Roll is probably my first or 2nd favorite (vs. Amaebi) Wasabi Rolls - An american-style roll that honestly.. I will probably order every time. The crunchiness of tobiko inside of the rolls is what makes it special to me. Hamachi Kama - Lastly, salmon collar. It's great, it's fatty, it's oily, it's perfect with rice. If you like fried food and want to indulge, get this. Lastly, I've also tried many of their other rolls and kitchen items. I am not a salmon guy anymore but my wife LOVES the salmon belly. We also occasionally top the meal off with something that will fill us that is cheap. We tried their Gyu-don, Oyako-don, Sukiyaki, Tempura Udon. Again, it was alright but it's not why you want to go to a nice sushi place. FYI : We've eaten in person, ordered enough for party of 10+ for delivery and pickup. Every time has not been disappointing at all. Amazing service (even though I do not account services in my review.

Let me start with this: Sada has the best sushi in Corvallis. Hands down. If you’re looking for silky slices of salmon, inventive rolls, or a satisfying agadashi tofu, this is the place. The fish is fresh, the presentation is solid, and on a good night, the whole experience is flawless. Unfortunately, that “good night” is a bit of a gamble. We eat here all the time—because we are addicts. Probably 80% of the time, the service is fantastic. The staff are warm, fast, and genuinely welcoming. You feel like a regular, even if it’s your second visit. But the other 20%? Buckle up. The worst night? New Year’s Eve. We arrived hopeful and hungry, only to discover that our server and the hostess were clearly auditioning for a Seth Rogen film. I’m not saying they were high, but if you’ve ever tried to order tempura from a guy who’s staring past you into another dimension, you get the idea. After an hour of waiting, someone finally realized our order had never been sent in. Another server, clearly sober and competent, took over. Crisis averted—or so we thought. We tried to order a few more things, but then our original server drifted back in from wherever he’d been (space? a broom closet?) and confidently re-took our order, which of course vanished into the void. When we asked about it later, we were told the kitchen was closed and we’d missed last call. A beautiful fusion of confusion and disappointment. We swore we’d never return. But… the sushi. So a few months later, we caved. We decided to forgive, forget, and roll the dice. And wouldn’t you know it—we got seated in that guy’s section again. To their credit, he seemed more earthbound this time. Maybe even employed. We ate our sushi. It was fantastic. We returned to the 80% timeline. So yes, I recommend Sada—but like you’d recommend a great camping spot that might have bears. It’s mostly amazing, but every once in a while, you might find yourself stranded in a service black hole wondering if your spicy tuna roll ever existed.

Sada Sushi & Izakaya – Taste tradition, precision, and passion. If you're looking for truly authentic Japanese cuisine, look no further than Sada Sushi & Izakaya in Corvallis, Oregon. This isn’t just another sushi spot, Sada is the real deal! For over 27 years, this restaurant has been quietly setting the standard for quality, consistency, and culinary excellence in Oregon. From the first bite, you’ll notice the difference. The fish is some of the freshest you'll find anywhere in the state, most likely flown in and the rice is always prepared to perfection, showing the kind of detail only a true master can deliver. The menu is extensive, offering not only world-class sushi and rolls, but also a full range of traditional Japanese dishes that reflect the depth and soul of Japanese cuisine. What truly sets Sada apart is its heart. Chef Sada is not only one of Oregon’s most talented and dedicated sushi chefs, but also a mentor and leader. His commitment to his craft and his team is evident in every plate that comes out of the kitchen. The staff is attentive, warm, and professional—a reflection of Sada’s high standards and deep passion for hospitality. Many locals would agree: Sada Sushi & Izakaya is easily one of the top three Japanese restaurants in the entire state—if not the best. This is a place that has stood the test of time, continuously delivering an exceptional dining experience at a remarkably fair price. Whether you're a seasoned sushi lover or trying Japanese cuisine for the first time, Sada is a must-visit. It’s not just dinner—it’s an experience. Treat yourself to something special and discover why so many people return to Sada again and again.
