This was my best choice based upon my online research for an Albany/Corvallis area dinner from my San Francisco home looking at maps, pictures and reviews prior to mine. Every place, including this one, appeared to have room for improvement. WARNING: MY UBER ROUND TRIP FROM MY ALBANY HOTEL COST $67 - EXCLUDING THE TIPS. Well... I was playing offense in maximizing out the fun I can have on my road trip to Seattle (Drinking and Driving is stupid). The experience matched my research very well with what to expect; I doubt one of the runner-ups in either town would have been as fun of a dinner experience as Sky High. When my Uber arrived here, I walked around this gorgeous town a little bit. When I opened the door to this place, I was lit up with excitement going up the bare wooden staircase with wooden walls and big chandeliers - what welcoming architecture! Looking out the window to see this crowded rooftop patio, I just wanted to sit there so bad; AND... I got a table after only a 5 minute wait. Going crazy with my selfie stick during the wait made the hostess and other waiting-to-be-seated customers laugh. Other diners and the waitstaff were also laughing at my selfie activity; the guy at the table next to mine had some smily fun bombing my selfies - contributing to the fun. Dinnerwise, I had the Veggie Burger with Clam Chowder, the Freewheel IPA and the Dream-on Pale Ale. I also had the Panorama Porter brownies for dessert. The burger was not sloppy (the way I like it) and the beers were tastily refreshing and not too strong. The brownies with ice cream had a UNIQUE kind of fudginess that i liked and signifies the dinner as something I don't normally have at home. My waitress Callie was a funny partytime waitress, and another from Minnesota struck up a brief conversation (during a lull) with me as if somehow she already knew I had a great time on a prior trip to Minnesota (which I actually did previously have a trip to Minnesota that was a blast). In the Uber case, I learned a lesson about looking at the distance (13 miles, not just across the river), but I'm glad I learned that lesson the most fun and enjoyable way it can be learned - AND I did NOT Drink and Drive. Ok, I will post only the bombed selfie (didn't need my A's hat), but I will post all of my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI highly recommend not eating at this establishment if you are looking for good service. Rebecca shouldnāt even be able to call herself bartender. Not only did she make my friends and I uncomfortable but she and her bar back called us names after we decided to leave the restaurant because of poor service. Itās trying times right now and I get that, but as someone working directly with the public I feel like you should work even harder to make the people your serving feel welcome. Honestly Iām so disappointed in this small business, I would of never thought that theyād treat us with such disrespect. I hope the owner sees this and reaches out, maybe makes changes. I stayed professional the entire time that the bartender and the bar back were hounding me because they knew I was going to leave a bad review. If anyone sees this I highly suggest not supporting a business like this, block 15 is right around the corner and they give excellent service. Rebecca Iām praying for you and I hope you donāt call your next...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I were at a work Christmas party tonight and he was treated differently because of his accent. My husband is English and has an accent that makes his words difficult to understand from an American point of view. He was cut off from alcohol after having little to drink. He did not drink beforehand and had plenty of food to make up for it. The reason he was cut off was because the waitress had said he was slurring his words. His accent makes him sound like he's slurring his words. He was with his friends and was extremely embarrassed by being cut off while those around him are still drinking heavily. He was a scapegoat for a scared and inexperienced waitress. We will not be drinking here again for fear of being cut off before even ordering a drink. I am very disappointed by the treatment toward my husband. Anyone who is as sober as he was would be upset by this treatment. We are not ones to make a mountain out of a molehill, but honestly his treatment was clear and simple...
