The room was spacious and clean. I wipe down all surfaces in any hotel room as soon as we check in and I only found dirt on the windowsill and A/C which is true of 100% of the hotels I have ever stayed in. The window had a glorious view of the Williamette River facing east. It was absolutely gorgeous, framed by trees and an ever-moving canvas in cool greens and blues. There was a walkway along the river that looped around the hotel with beautiful landscaping. It was an absolute pleasure to take the dog out for potty at this location.
One of the towels had what appeared to be a smear of apple-cinnamon frosting on it which made me feel like it had been used although otherwise it was folded crisply and appeared clean. I quickly replaced that towel with one of the extras in the room.
The hotel staff was super quick to give us anything extra we asked for and very friendly.
We chose this hotel because we had our dog with us. We saw quite a few other guests with animals in the hotel and heard some of the dogs barking which made me feel better when ours did a little when people passed, talking, close to our hotel door. I felt like they tried to group pet-guests together which was wise as we were all more tolerant of barking from others. They did set each other off a bit at night because they were close together so I sincerely hope no non-pet guests were mixed in with us. We felt that we and our dog were very welcome and that people were kind and tolerant about everything.
The "kitchen" area was great, with a little fridge/freezer and microwave. There was a cubby next to the fridge that would have been perfect if we had brought our dog's crate. As it is we put his water bowl in there where it wouldn't be kicked on accident.
There were many places to eat and things to do nearby. We really liked this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
Two things I did not like about the room: the fan and light in the bathroom were on one switch which means if you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night there is a jet engine going off for everyone else in the room. Also, while it looked and smelled clean, I could see places on the floor that appeared to be stained and our dog paid special attention to those places, so I felt pretty certain that those were places other pets had accidents. This made me feel the room was dirty even though when I scrubbed and smelled one of the spots I couldn't see or smell anything. I feel that perhaps it would be better if the pet rooms had a hard floor that is easier to...
Read moreWe made reservations 8 months in advance. When we arrived, we had been told the elevator went out 2 months ago. We were not told this information before we arrived and there was no mention of this issue in the "welcome" email. Just after check-in (when they told me about the elevator), I tried to change hotels. As this was last minute, all other hotels in the area were $60-100 higher in their rates.
Staff offered us a room on the 1st floor, however, this is a dog-friendly hotel and they only allow pets on the 1st floor. Meaning, you can hear barking through the walls and if anyone in your party has allergies, forget it.
They have no bell services, so the front desk staff offered to carry our bags up the stairs. This was extremely uncomfortable to watch. They clearly were not hired to lift bags and yet they are forced to do this all day long.
I complained to hotel management and to IHG Guest Relations. While polite, they did nothing to resolve my concerns or offer any credit. The General Manager was off-site.
There were at least 4 parties who complained about the elevator while I was in the lobby. This is a MAJOR issue and Holiday Inn's complete failure to communicate this to all customers is a vacation ruining experience.
Our room had a mostly obstructed river view and the bathroom door would not lock properly. This is important when you have families sharing the room. I reported the issue and one of the front desk staff spent 25 minutes trying to fix the lock. When they offered to swap the entire door with another room, I said we would live with the defect.
Hotel staff were extremely helpful (especially James and Colbie) and yet completely powerless to resolve complaints.
IHG Guest Relations says my complaint needs to be resolved by the hotel itself. Hotel staff say a "warm" team was assembled by the corporate office and they take care of all communications about the lack of an elevator. The hotel also says repairs are being managed by the corporate office. IHG says the hotel is privately owned and they cannot provide the owner's name or contact information. It's a complete mess and ALL hotel guests who stay on the 2nd or 3rd floors are suffering.
A few days after my trip, I complained again to IHG Customer Relations. This time, the manager called me back and offered...
Read moreVery nice room, we were pleased with the front desk staff accommodating my two sisters and I while we were in town for our brothers memorial service. Busy weekend in Corvallis as it was college enrollment week and the hotel was booked. We ended up extending our original request of one night to two nights and booked the second night on a different date, but the hotel was booked and they were unable to accommodate our second night in the same double queen room so we were booked to a King room the second night with a roll away bed. Fortunately, another guest checking in at the same time we were overheard our discussion with the front desk staff and was hoping to get a double queen room verses the king jacuzzi suite he booked.
The hotel staff did a great job of switching out his King Jacuzzi suite to us and gave him our double queen room. Thank you to that man, his wife and child! We were provided a roll away bed and able to stay in the same king Jacuzzi room both nights. Great job staff! The only complaint we had was regarding the toilet, it didn't flush and was clogged when we arrived to our room. The hotel staff came up with a plunger and unclogged our toilet both days for us, The bathroom smelled bad due to this problem, apparently the river overflowed days before our arrival and it effected the septic of the hotel. This was beyond the hotels control but they did a good job of correcting it each time. Our extended family all gathered in evening for a game and The dining area accommodated all 11 of us. The fresh cookies they provided in the evening were a nice treat.
The gym was great, I used the elliptical while watching t.v. and enjoyed their fresh water in the morning, They also have a treadmill, stationary bike, pool and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was nice for a relaxing evening, the staff even allowed us to stay a bit longer after closing, thank you we really needed that! The breakfast omelets were a great start to the day. Thank you Holiday Inn on the River...
