Masa is an incredibly talented and experienced hairstylist. I’ve spent years trying to find a Japanese hairstylist who could cut my thick and frizzy hair with skill. I’ve finally found him and have been going to him since last year — even following him from Sleek Hair Salon to his new salon at Sola Salons in Costa Mesa.

Masa is the only Orange County stylist I’ve met who takes proper time to cut my hair with precision and patience, so that it grows out nicely and evenly (something that does not happen if the stylist isn’t careful or doesn’t understand my hair). He gives valuable feedback and knows how to cut in a way that flatters my face shape and hair texture. He also remembers exactly how I prefer my hair cut at each new appointment. Plus, he takes the time to style my hair after a cut with either curling or straightening! I seriously love my hair after each and every appointment.

Masa is also just so kind and caring and fun to talk to. I feel he treats me like a friend vs just another nameless customer. His salon is so cute and clean, too.

I’m so happy I found Masa! I have been in search of a Japanese hair stylist because the previous hair stylist I went to for 10+ years moved back to Japan and other Asian hair stylists I booked with never seemed to fully cut my hair the way I like. I have a lot of hair and it’s thick so I understand how difficult it is to tame it. Masa got it 100% 👌🏻

I also felt SOOOO bad for my first appointment today because I completely forgot my booking time. I booked for 1:30pm but thought it was at 2:00pm. I showed up at 1:45pm thinking I was early but I was so late. On top of that, my baby daughter was crying next to us while Masa gave my hair a wash. Masa was still so kind and forgiving about it. He also tried to talk to my baby to help make her better during the wash. Thankfully, she stopped crying. He also didn’t rush and still took his time to thoroughly cut my hair. He was also so nice to talk to! BEST SERVICE EVER! I didn’t deserve Masa’s kindness from me being late and having a fussy baby. 😅
