Earlier this year I had been gifted my great grandmother's ring so that I could propose to my girlfriend, now fiancé, with it. It just had to be resized, which involved them having to cut the old band off due to how thin my great grandmother had worn the ring down. So my mom and I brought it into this store to be resized so that I could actually put it on my fiancé's finger when I proposed. Initially, this store appeared to have done a phenomenal job with the Ring. When I first got it, I was absolutely thrilled with how it looked. They did an amazing job of cleaning it up and making it look like a brand new ring. Fast forward 5 months however and the new welds they did to replace the band snapped. My fiancé is distraught because she knows that this is an heirloom and she absolutely LOVES this ring, she hardly ever takes it off and she has always taken great care with it. I admit, I had not checked the reviews prior to taking the ring here, I only thought to check them after seeing what happened to the ring, and I have to say that after seeing all of the 1 star reviews, I am not surprised this happened at all. I feel that with how I was treated when I walked through the door 5 months ago initially as well, that I should have taken my business elsewhere, however I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. I will say, the lady at the desk was a little rough around the edges, but she was sweet enough towards my mother and I that it was the gentleman that actually does the work that really rubbed me the wrong way. Again, as I look at all of the reviews now, I am not shocked at all with how I and my mother were treated when I brought the ring into the store. I intend to call the store and see what they plan to do, if anything, about the shoddy craftsmanship. My soon to be mother-in-law says that any jeweler that is reputable, would not have had this issue. This ring should not have come apart like this in just 5 months, it should have taken years for this sort of thing to happen. I personally don't expect anything out of calling this store and asking them what they intend to do, but i am still going to give them that chance. How they handle the situation over the phone may get me to re-think this review, but as of right now, it is sitting at a hard 1 star.
Update: (11 months after initial posting) Okay, so, life has been rough, it has taken me time to sit down and finalize my review. (I got a notification that reminded me about this review, realized I forgot to update.) I did call them fairly quickly after the ring broke, I haven’t forgotten the conversation. If I could post this as 0 stars, I absolutely would. When I called, the lady was once again rough around the edges, I shrugged it off. I explained that my fiancé's ring which they worked on had snapped off where they did the welds, her response was extremely rude and condescending "Well, What did she do to it? What did she hit it against to cause that to happen?" My answer was exactly what my fiancé told me had happened, and she has no reason to lie about it, I know how much she loves this ring. "Nothing, actually. She was rubbing it much in the same way my great grandmother did, while she was at work. She was appreciating the ring and it just fell off her finger as she touched it." Her response was less than my fiancé and I wanted to hear, "Well, bring it in and we'll see whether it was our work or not and we will see what we can do." And I don't remember whether it was I or the woman on the phone who hung up, but the phone was hung up immediately after that remark. I live 2 hours away, I was not driving all the way back to Cottonwood without a guarantee of it being fixed at no extra charge. This ring broke because of shoddy work, plain and simple. Do not go here. Their customer service is terrible and they treat you like dirt when you walk in unless you're a friend or regular to them, not okay to do in any customer service job. I recommend going to any other jeweler in Cottonwood...
Read moreWould give a big fat zero stars if I could this place is absolutely horrible. I took my fiancés ring in to get resized and the owners customer service is absolutely disgusting the way they talk to you. Right there I should have known to just go to a WAY better jewelry place which is Galinas across the street. Sherwood resized the ring ok it wasn’t very good the white gold wasn’t re plated well it was yellow he gouged the inside of the ring and scratched the outside as well. On top of that he chipped one of the diamonds on the band which Galinas replaced for us at no cost and replaced it for FREE to fix this horrible jewelry store mess up . It’s a bit more expensive to get resized at Galinas but TRUST me….. just get anything done there. When we got it back from Galinas it was SO much better they fixed everything wrong with her ring and it’s pristine again. Avoid Sherwoods at all cost it was horrible. Attached is photos of all the scratches after we got it...
Read moreThe couple that own this place are a wonderful husband and wife who have been in that same spot for over 30 years if I remember correctly. The gentleman is the Jeweler and custom makes most all of the jewelry that you will ooh and ahh over in their cases. They're very honest and comfortable with being very matter of fact which I value very much ESPECIALLY in that type of business. I absolutely love this couple and what they bring to the table. They will bend over backwards to help their customers but they're not going to take any shyte from some rude Richard Craniums either. If you want beautiful jewelry and you want to be comfortable in know your purchase was from honest and good people. Then go to SHERWOOD JEWELERS! You won't be...
