Truly the most disappointing customer experience I’ve ever had! Let me start off by saying don’t waste your time patronizing this pathetic excuse for a hobby store. There’s absolutely nothing worth purchasing and the staff couldn’t be more clueless not only re products, but life in general.
The gentleman that work at this store are the absolute definition of obtuse. First, both employees are somewhere in their 40s or 50s and have worked at this location for 5+ years, if not much…much longer. Neither of them appear to have any sort of formal education, which I guess is obvious given their age and career choice. It’s apparent these two little boys have never gown up and have not intention on doing so anytime soon.
Now let’s get down to my story. I brought in my store credit that was clearly in the amount of $58 and change. The overweight gentleman outright refused to honor the credit and stated he was only willing to settle for $20 in store merchandise. I handed him the credit and asked for an explanation wherein he proceeded to rip up the credit and threaten to pull a gun if I didn’t leave his store. At this time the manager came over and stated to grab something worth $20 and leave the store.
Regardless, I left the store and bestowed a little wisdom re threatening others with a gun. It’s probably one of the stupidest things you could ever do especially in today’s age where you never know who’s packing. I proceeded two blocks down the street and walked into Covina PD to explain the entire situation.
DO NOT go this store and PLEASE DO NOT bring your children anywhere around this loose cannon. He’s unpredictable with clearly nothing to live for. He’s an unemployable ticking time bomb that we can only hope will wither away without causing harm to...
Read moreWorst customer service ever! I knew exactly what part (shock spring) I needed to repair my son's radio control truck and explained to the guy working inside. He said no problem and sold me the part. I took it home to replace the broken part and found out that the part sold to me was indeed the wrong size. He sold me the wrong size spring which was too long to fit. I figured no problem I will simply take it back along with the truck so the guy could exchange it for the correct part that I needed. WRONG! Not only was the guy extremely rude, but he completely refused to exchange the part that he sold me, which was the part he suggested.
The worst thing about my experience is that he insisted he sold me the correct part. I then took off the broken spring and compared the size of the springs in front of him. The springs were completely different sizes and it was extremely obvious, not stretched or compressed. In front of my face he told me they were the same size. I could not believe what I was experiencing.
I took my stuff and left the store. I proceeded to Pegasus hobby in Montclair. Not only did they tell me it was in fact the wrong spring, but they exchanged it for me at their store. Now thats great customer service. While at Pegasus hobby I found that their prices are much lower than Covina Hobby.
STAY AWAY FROM COVINA HOBBY. NOT ONLY WILL YOU RECEIVE BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE ELSEWHERE, YOU WILL ALSO...
Read moreI came to buy some items since it was the closest shop but I will never come back again. The one in charge of the register does not seem to have any concept of good customer service. I like to look around and take my time to chose parts but the one in the front counter made me feel as if I had to hurry up. I got some items but changed my mind and I put them back where they belonged.
Finally I bought an item but then this guy, in an unfriendly tone, asked for the things I had already put in their proper place. I explained to him that I had placed them back. He said that it looked like I was stealing. I even told him to check his surveillance cameras.
I will never set foot on Covina Hobbies again. I don't need to deal with horrendous customer service. If you want outstanding customer service, go to Smith Brothers in Northridge, where you will be treated with respect. Stay away from...
