Highly recommend! DB Design is a very professional and credible company to work with. We met with over a dozen design centers and contractors in planning our kitchen remodel and DB was the only one who literally asked what our budget was and helped us build what we wanted (and needed!) within our limits. DB has a wide range of products to offer and a full scope of resources (counter top installers, appliance stores, contractors, etc) with whom they collaborate; all are vetted and can be trusted. They assigned L.A Bruder Contracting to do the handiwork and Lee Bruder was the consummate professional throughout the process. We were so pleased with Lee's work & effort that we became friends and will definitely stay in touch whether for other handiwork, to talk sports or to visit with his sweet dog Pippa who was a great assistant on the job (not required, though).
From an appliance standpoint, Bridgeville Appliance went above & beyond for us with delivery and, literally, a hand-delivered rebate (our sales rep showed up at our front door and handed us our rebate). The appliances that we chose with with Bob's guidance are so blissfully amazing!
During the construction process, of course there were a few glitches along the way, but Lee and DB attended to each and every one with proper follow-up, a necessary "re-do" and a few extras that saved us from additional burdens. Lee and Caroline (from DB) took great care to ensure that we were happy with the project, and still to this day are checking in to make sure all is well.
We did learn a lesson of patience, though, and that would be piece of advice to offer other customers. In the field of design and construction - especially during the Covid-19 crisis - it's important to cut a little slack and be patient. Also, be sure to make proper clean up plans in your overall plan. With demolition, we expected there to be a mess, but I wish we had actually accounted for either a better plan with the laborers or that deep-clean costs were factored into the original budget.
In the end, though, there were no outlandish surprises. Caroline and Lee were concise, fair and professional with all the processes; from initial Q & A to design (DB rocks with a 3D display that gives you a true visual of what your job is going to look like!) to implementation and follow-up. These are genuine people and they'll take good care of you. We are very pleased that we chose DB Design Center and that they chose L.A. Bruder Contracting to...
Read moreWe contacted DB remodeling looking for a kitchen and bath remodel on a town home we owned and were planning to convert to a rental. Doug was immediately responsive. We discussed our desires and our budget and he did his best to provide us with the options to meet said budget and desired options. We ended up spending $20,000.
We landed on having the kitchen remodel done completely by one of his contractors but decided to purchase the bathroom vanities, mirrors, and toilets from him and install on our own.
The kitchen remodel looked nice, but there were a few concerning problems: There was an issue in removing a wall due to a pre-existing air duct - we weren't asked about how to handle it, and the contractor made the decision to simply not remove part of the wall. He didn't adjust the location of the island, however, and therefore we were left with about an 8" space between the perpendicular wall and the end of the island, which makes it tough to get around unless you're really small. Secondly, the contractor left all the windows and doors open with the A/C running while he was at the house, which led to the A/C freezing multiple days and we would have to unthaw it when we got home from work. He also didn't reattach the plumbing for the fridge water line, which was tedious to do afterwards as it needed to be threaded through the already installed cabinets. When we asked Doug about issues with the contractor, he informed us that this contractor was primarily used for "less important" projects. About a year after the remodel there are issues with handles falling off the cabinets.
For the bathroom remodel: we are installing the vanities and toilets ourselves. The biggest issue so far is that the granite vanity tops are 4" larger than the vanities themselves. We can't center them because the vanity sits flush with the corner.
Overall the experience made this remodel somewhat easier than if we had tried to do it ourselves. However, I've done a remodel in the past year in our primary home by purchasing the items myself and hiring a contractor on our own for less money and considerably...
Read moreWorked with Doug and the team doing a complete remodel of my first floor. Expanded my kitchen and opened up a wall. The whole team was awesome to work with, especially when considering we had to navigate the covid lockdowns of 2020. The redesign turned my late-80's kitchen design into an incredibly useful modern kitchen. Doug and Kim came up with some great ideas to utilize space that I would have never thought possible. The whole team there really helped me through the process, including Abbey who kept on top of a few of the covid related shipping issues. Everyone that walks into my place immediately comments on how nice my kitchen is. It really is the focal point of my house. When I have gatherings, we almost never leave the kitchen! My son bought a place in Feb 24. He wanted to redo the kitchen. Needless to say DB did a great job with his...
