PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE! I would give zero stars if there is an option. The good reviews are from the past. Looks like, the ownership changed due to a foreclosure and the new owner does not take care of the place. I just stayed there for a night. When I got there, it was an open parking lot with no one to help. The office was closed. The promised laundry/restroom amenities were not there. I couldn't find a trash bin. I booked a site but I couldn't locate it by the number. A security person who was patrolling stopped by and told me that I could park in any spot. It was almost empty with only a couple of other RVs parked. I asked the security person if it is safe to stay there with no fencing. He told me that they patrol 24/7; so, no need to worry. My first shock was when I connected the filter for water and opened the tap, I heard something forcefully stuck in the filter and the water tank wasn't filling. I removed the hose and looked into the filter, there were bugs and sedimentation completely blocked the filter inlet. I removed everything and ran the water for sometime which came in brown color. Looks like, that tap hasn't been used in a long time and bugs have built their nest in there. The second shock was when I woke up the next morning, all my 3 bikes locked up outside the RV were gone. Someone just cut the cable lock and took all of them. I called the management and reported. They simply asked me to call the sheriff's office and report. We just stopped there for a night and this place ruined our rest of the trip and took the fun away. This place is crumbling and if you have options, definitely avoid this place...
Read moreLocation is phenomenal. Dogs on leash allowed, pick up after. Dumpster is at back end of park across gravel near an apartment building. Far walk to trash dog poo. But, it is in the marina and beach area, closest paved lot with level spot for pull thrus with 20,30,50 amp, cable, wifi, water and sewer. Crescent City Beach is walkable it's literally across the street. Baby sea lions bark and honk at the marina. 2-3 Restaurants on the marina nearest the park. Facilities are clean and safe. Hosts and office people are accomodating. Long terms available. Only 15 minutes from hiouchi visitor center redwood national and state parks. Would have given 5 stars, but some (just the one next to us) of the long term people were kinda loud late at night also had her 50 amp plug in our post but her water sewer and everything else was hooked to her post, so we had to cross hook our 30 amp to another post. Technically, she should just move over a spot to be in the 50amp space. Plus she'd be on the end. Park should make her move and utilize only one set of hookups and not rent out spaces like that. Too confusing, plus we could hear her when she got home. She was loud and parked her car in our RV space. It is our last day, so we aren't...
Read moreWaking up next to the ocean has it's own amount of amazingness. Knowing that you have to lock up and secure absolutely everything so you don't get robbed by the homeless camp, that's priceless. We arrived fairly late and the side we were assigned had someone else in it building a fire and having a few booze. We tried calling the camp back to see if we could switch spots, the number didn't work. No camp host that we noticed. Then a lady ran up and asked us what we were doing, we let her know that someone was in our spot and to my surprise she said "oh yes, that's us!" Then she told me to just park in the next spot that no one was there and it would be fine. We were tired and set up. She apologized about a million times and made hersrlf friendly to us. We liked her and it wasn't a big deal. Then she warned us to keep everything locked away because the homeless will walk through and take anything that isn't tied down. We didn't sleep well that night and decided to pack up and leave early the next day. That same lady did direct us to a nice beach not too far away and gave us a parting gift of a whole sand dollar.
She should be the camp host since she was more helpful than the...
