Don't trust the owner Steve! My Jetta had transmission problems, so I contacted Certified to get an estimate. Was told that they would have to drop the transmission to give an estimate, so I had my car towed there. After that I was told that it needed a new or rebuilt transmission around $5000. Not being in my budget, I asked them if I could look for a used one and have them install it. This part is nearly impossible to find, but I had regular contact with Paul (who was very nice and understanding) and there was no indication from him that there was an issue. Then, out of the blue, I received a certified letter stating that I would be charged a $25/day storage fee. I called to resolve this issue, but I was told that Steve, the owner, was too busy to return my call. After calling again the next day with no response, I went there to talk to Steve, but he was still too "busy" to talk to me. I got the bill which included charges for diagnosing a coolant leak, which I did not authorize. There reason for the storage fee was that there was a sign in their shop, which I had never been to, stating that storage fees would accrue 3 days after work was completed, which it had not been. With numerous phone exchanges, why was I never notified of this policy or asked to get my car(Which I would gladly have done)? It was totally unprofessional for Steve, the owner, to be too "busy" to speak with me and to put his employees in charge of dealing with a difficult situation caused by his poor business decisions. Avoid Certified Transmission...
Read moreFirst, I donât really trust auto mechanics. I feel like they know you donât know what whatâs wrong with your vehicle, so youâre at their mercy. And many times, they exploit it. But, unless youâre a mechanic yourself, you have to trust someone (when you donât have the homeboy hookup and I donât).đ I called Certified and I spoke with Nate (the owner). He was friendly and not too busy to hear me out. He asked me to make an appointment and let them look at our vehicle. I took it to them and he was there. He reassured me that they arenât out to gouge or add unnecessary repairs to get more money. As I left the car he asked me if I had a ride home. I told him, âNo.â First, he offered me an Uber. Then said thatâll take too long, would I mind him dropping me off. I said sure! Talking to the Nate, he sounded like a good dude trying to live out his dream of repairing autos the âright wayâ. The next day, I called to check the progress on the vehicle. The repairs were more than I originally expected, but Daniel walked me and my wife through all of them and they werenât unreasonable. They helped us make a plan to get them all done (some now, some later) but to get the most important repairs done now. We agreed and got the most dire repairs done. The guys were patient explaining things (more than once). And so far, so good with the work we got done. My wife is happy she has her car back and as of this post, itâs running very well. Iâll go back to Certified and Iâd also recommend them to anyone else needing to get service. Thanks...
Read moreDISSAPOINTING. 2 years ago, brake system caput on van, added oil draining right back out. So after a lot of research trying to find what I hoped would become regular mechanic in this area to use, had it towed to Certified. Unfortunately not a simple hose issue but the whole brake line needed replacing. On top of that they added a ton of other costs for calipers, rotors, brakes etc. Said I definately needed all to safely drive. They questioned whether I would want put that much money back into it. Then it seemed like they didn't even want to work on it. On recommendation of one of tow truck drivers then had it towed to Coric Auto. Brake line replacement good deal cheaper, they told me did not need the calipers etc. Maybe cost third of what had been told would need to spend on it at Certified. Coric seemed to feel that as engine still good and solid, worth repairing and not ready for the metal heap yet. So 2 years later, just now finally having to replace the rotors and pads on front, calipers still ok. Van not a daily driver, but has done what I needed it to for camping, paddling and towing just fine these past 2 years with no other issues. Glad I got the second opinion on it and found a mechanic I can trust, although clear across town. My dismissive dealings at Certified had been with the...
