First off, my wife and I are LONG TIME customers of Kroger for over 20 YEARS!! But THIS store is horrible. MANY items are out of stock, and the Restrooms are somewhere you do not want to go in without hazmat gear! The evening staff is completely untrained and incompetent. The card reader machine on register 8 is old and broken down. The cashier will make you reinsert your card multiple times, UPSIDE DOWN to get it to make you "swipe" your card, because it can not read a chip. But yet says, "this is normal". We were forced to do just that on a recent visit. She actually had us reinsert our card 9 TIMES in ONE MINUTE!!! So......subsequently, our banks fraud department shut our card off, because it thought there was fraudulent activity due to the repeated insertions of the card. The front end manager, "Maycee", showed up and confronted my wife and informed her that at this point, "she can just cancel the transaction and leave, or she will call the police". My wife is BLACK, and I am white, by the way. We had MORE than substantial enough funds for the TINY transaction of 62 dollars in the bank at that time. It was THEIR machine that caused our bank's fraud department to be alerted by the repeated insertions of the card into THEIR machine, that they said was "normal". Our banks Fraud Department even called my wife's phone WHILE WE WERE IN LINE!! My wife PUT THE CALL ON SPEAKER, but "Maycee" chose to talk so loudly, and repeat herself over and over, while my wife was on the line with them, that my wife was unable to even hear the conversation!! I say AGAIN, my wife is BLACK. And I am white. She did a full on "Karen" to my wife in the middle of the store. I began to record video with my phone, and she IMMEDIATELY became docile again. But all the activity by "Karen" is DEFINITELY on a camera in the store, as the "front end" is recorded heavily. After we returned home, our card issue was corrected with one 3 minute phone call! Which could have been resolved AT THE STORE, if it wasn't for "Karen's" intentional loud behavior. This store is incompetent, unkept, exceedingly rude, and EXTREMELY RACIST!...
Read moreI'm finally disgusted enough with my consistently bad experiences at Krogers that I'm going public about it. This week, I shopped at Krogers for a small handful of other items. It took longer for me to check out than it took to shop! All the items I picked up were supposedly on sale, but the register charged me full price. Part of the problem was several items were mis-marked... the kraft cheese I bought wasn't on sale (although the sale sign was posted prominently in front of the kraft cheese), apparently it was the kroger brand cheese that was on sale! And, the sign that said my dad's coffee was on sale was outdated (but still prominently posted on the shelf)! And, the other sale items were DIGITAL coupons which - unlike the store discounts - aren't automatically added by the register at checkout... I had to take additional time to look up each item so the cashier could scan each bar code into the register! Thanks to all the mis-marked sales items and digital coupons, it took a total of 20 minutes for me to checkout at the register... while several people waited in line behind me. Unfortunately, the negatives about Krogers doesn't stop there... in addition to being chronically out of stock, in addition to making it beyond complicated to get discounts on items, in addition to not keeping the sales signage up to date, the store is also incredibly DIRTY (I'm one of the few people who have seen the inside of the bathroom and lived to tell about it... possibly because - after seeing what state it was in - I walked out without using it). For everyone else who is fed up with Krogers, there's a MUCH nicer grocery store across West Street. It's clean, items are always in stock, the discounts on food items is simple and straightforward, the staff is friendly, and parking is MUCH easier than at Kroger. I invite you to make the...
Read moreThis Kroger has decided to put profits ahead of customer service. The store has installed new self check out lanes. These new lanes are ridiculous. First you scan items and put them on a moving belt . The items scanned go to the end and start to backup. The customer must stop scanning items and bag the groceries. Then start the process again. You can only Scan so many items then step toward the end of the line and bag the items. Very time consuming. Walmart is the Butt of jokes for this very reason. Kroger has chosen to put profits ahead of customer service and they are turning themselves into Walmart. Two regular checkout lanes were not open. Customers were backed up wall to wall. I asked for a floor manager. Two managers came. I showed him the sea of customer that were backed up. The two closed closed checkout lanes were opened. The backup of customer was relieved. I will only be shopping at the Crossville Kroger (in town Kroger's) as a last resort . Food City continues to put Customer service ahead of profits. That is where I will be taking my dollars 💵 from now on. Back to the New self check out lanes. This is my question to the Kroger Corporation, Who was hired to do the Demographic profile of the in town Kroger Store and the Demographic profile of Crossville? Because that company got the Demographics totally wrong. Walk into the Kroger Crossville store at any time and you will find more Gray hair than not. The same with Crossville the city. Kroger wants older people to be running back and forth to scan their groceries and bag the groceries at the same time. ONCE MORE.... KROGER HAS PUT PROFITS AHEAD OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. It's a sad day. Shop at Food City for Customer service and let the scanning and bagging be done by Food...
