Our favorite local Asian Eatery is Ah Mah & Son located in Crossville, TN. We used to live there and now are 45 minutes away, but it's still worth the drive! #asianfood #ahmahandson #localfoodie #crossvilletn #dreamversetravel #chinesefoodlover

Food was AMAZING!!! (I'm singing that last word). I normally live Japanese food, but I can take or leave Chinese food. Everything i have had from this restaurant has been infringing delicious. Tonight I chose en entree called something like "local favorite". You could choose your meat and sauce (I choose chicken & an orange sauce to go with it). It came with lo mein, rice, and mixed vegetables. All perfectly cooked. The chicken was breaded and fried white meat. One of my friends ordered the donut nuggets for dessert. They were light, crispy on the outside, very soft in the middle. Everyone went back for more. One thing to know- you order at the counter. They bring you your dinner. But you get your own utensils from the counter. Our party of five all missed that and had to go back up for the silverware and chop sticks. But no big deal, and totally worth it for such good food! I haven't eaten here in at least 4 years, and it was incredible back then as well.

Pleasant surprise!! There are 3 options that I am aware of in crossville for Asian cuisine. Two do not taste good, and one is as close to Japanese food as one can get here. Ah Ma & Son is definitly a fusion style that mixes the best of Japanese, Thai, and Chinese. The sauces are a smidge on the sweet side, but that is my opinion, as I prefer less sweet foods . I am not sure if you notice that all beef items at your typical Chinese place uses the same beef and has a very unique taste, that I do not like. I'm not sure what it is, but I find it blah. I am thus relegated to eating chicken items. I am allergic to seafood so shrimp is out of the question. I ordered the Mongolian Beef. Here they use actual steak slices with a wonderful sauce!! The eggroll is substantial with the filling tasting pretty darn good. The Thai tea was spot on!! We will be coming back for more. Finally!! A solid Asian restaurant worth the price.

I was hoping that this restaurant would give the other good Chinese restaurant (Dynasty) a run for the money .....I don't think so. When one enters you either are forced to look at a wall menu or grab a menu and stand while you figure out what you want. When that is complete ,you place the order at the front counter while it is entered into a monitor. The order taker then turns the monitor so it faces you. Now you pay......and yes there are check off box recommendations for a tip. Yes there is a box for no tip. What nerve asking for a tip when you have yet to receive a bit of service. We were then instructed to find a seat and wait to be served while listening to pop music. Playing the music of your culture is more successful..///// The menu is minimal. On the top is offered a dish called Teppanyaki. One can get it with 10 different additions.....Tofu...chicken....shrimp etc. BUT THIS IS ABOUT HALF THE MENU. When you had one Teppanyaki you basically had them all. We ordered two dishes of this. I couldn't believe it... my broccoli was cold to the touch. I complained and the young girl said she can make some more hot vegetables. I declined. If this was my restaurant that had just opened I as the owner would have been involved making sure the customers left happy. The meal was tasty for luke warm. We finished the meal with two Thai iced coffee which we haven't had in a long while......yum. The décor is very nice and trendy......however it is pretty generic. With little effort it could be changed to another ethnic eatery. I will stick with...

Sometimes you find a place that does some things superbly and others not so much. Ah Mah and Son is such a place for me. I have eaten there numerous times and while I love their food (most the time) the service is not near as good. I don’t usually dine in because they don’t have adequate parking so I went to pick up dinner for my family. The bill was near 50$ and I was paying by credit card. I was in the middle of adding the tip (usually 12% for take out). While doing this I asked if she included Yum-yum sauce. She he told me no because that sauce didn’t go with my meal and she would need to run my card a 2nd time to charge me 1$. Hearing this I told her no thanks and chose the “No Tip” option. Silly girl traded a 6$ tip for a normally free sauce. One of my entrees was Sweet and Sour Chicken and guess what they forgot- the sauce! I called and told them you can’t have Sweet and Sour Chicken without sweet and sour sauce. I got a lot of sighing and sorry Ma am but no offer to make it right. She acted as if I was annoying her and finally offered to give me a free sauce next time I ordered. So my advice to others who are considering ordering from there is tell them not to pack your food until you pick up (because this isn’t an uncommon occurrence) and lower your expectations on manners and customer service cause they don’t care and it shows. What’s good: any beef dish from there is better than any other I’ve tried...

BEWARE ordering 'togo' - ya MUST check the order BEFORE leaving... just had to return the lunch I bought hoping to get it done right ~ instead, they took my meal I drove all the way home with, then drove all the way back with so now it's nice and cold, and instead of redoing the full meal I originally ordered so it would still be hot for me when I got home (like a normal restaurant would have done), they took the now cold meal that's also been in their kitchen getting colder, and just slid off the part I didn't order and replaced it with a hot version of what I did order. Yep, right next to the now very cold food so it also would lose any warmth by the time I got back home, including the cold food getting even colder by then. So - then got home expecting the now hot meal I paid dearly for monetarily and driving twice the distance for, but faced with this stuff that's lost all palatability instead... ripped-off again. NOW, whenever I order togo there, before I leave, I have to open the tightly tied plastic bag with my feeble old damaged hands and CHECK it since the 'wait staff' (sic) is too incompetent and too conceited and prissy to do so - also ~ DO NO LEAVE ANY TIP on togo orders there!!!! (they don't deserve any for simply taking an order - and don't seem to care if it's...
