Northern Tool + Equipment — Local services in Cutler Bay

I purchased a chemical transfer pump from Northern Tools, they sold me an extended warranty which as they explained at the time of purchase offered a replacement without having to go through the manufacturer’s process. The pump began to fail almost immediately, I took the pump and the warranty paperwork to this location where I was told that the warranty was not valid, they asked what chemicals had I ran through it and I explained that pump was used to transfer soaps, some acid based chemicals and water. The manager basically said that the pump was for round up only and therefore I voided the warranty. Mind you the label says “Round up approved” and is listed as a chemical transfer pump. I asked the manager if he even knew what were the active ingredients in round up since he made that statement (letting me know that he is totally clueless, or trying to sound somewhat knowledgeable which he is not!). I explained to him that the pump had seals which are resistant to all the chemicals which I ran through it, and had no business failing within a week of service. His reply was to let me know that they would need to send the pump back to the manufacturer (mind you it a northern tool brand) for them to determine what product had been used on it. If I could give them 3 and a 1/2 stars,that's what it would be. This is a local chain store that has variety of different items mostly for machinery, stuff for cars/car repairs, trailers, trailer hitches, lawn & garden, rubber gloves, work gloves, they also sell clothing and socks and hard to find items that are not ordinarily at Home Depot or Lowe's. They also sell cold soda and candy up by the register. If you go online sometimes they have specials or in the mail they'll send you a coupon for $5 off a $20 purchase $10 off a $50 purchase or $20 off a $100 purchase. If you can take advantage of those you can save some money on the items you're looking for. One tip is to look online for what you want to buy because if there is a special sale the store doesn't always have the proper pricing. We had to let the cashier know that the item we were buying was $30 less than the price he rang up because it was on sale. The staff was friendly and helped us find what we were looking for. Staff gets 4.5 stars! The reason I am giving the store 3 and a 1/2 stars is because there was only one cashier working at the time we were there and a lot of the shelves and racks are empty. Great experience at this Cutler Ridge NTE store. We received notice from Honda that there was a recall and our generator needed attention. We called and spoke with Javier in the parts department to make sure they had what was needed. He was very professional and told us their hours and how long it may take. We drove up from Islamorada where we then also met Tony. Tony was the actual mechanic that day. What a truly awesome person. He explained everything that was needed and did the work in record time. If you know generators you know that they can be a bear to get into. But my Kenny services it regularly and Tony explained quite honestly that this helped in completing the task.
