Allow me to take you on a journey through the electronics department at village discount outlet of cuyahoga falls. Buckle in because it’s about to make you upset, unless you don’t care for electronics in which case this is going to come off as unhinged but that’s okay. First up is a used copy of GTA 5 for the PlayStation 3. Now you can usually pick this up for $1-$5 at a garage sale and about $15 online. Here it’s for sale at the low low price of $30. Next we have a stunning Vizio 24 tv inch with a fairly large scratch and moderate scuff marks. This TV came out 10 years ago in February of 2014. At a goodwill or savers this will probably set you back $15-$30 and a brand new model at target is $130 for better features. It’s $120 here, no remote included. If it was included it would probably be $150. Now we have a 12 year old HP monitor model number W2072A. This bad how has a 20 inch screen, VGA AND DVI input, 1600x900 resolution and weighs only 8 pounds. Normally you can pick these up for $1 at garage sales, or $5-10 at other thrift stores. There’s even one right there for $35 on eBay when I googled the specs. It’s $80 here. Up to bat now is a what appears to be an iMac G5. This ole boy is close to two decades old now, coming out in 2005. This was the generation that Apple swapped from PowerPC to Intel so that’s neat. Anyway it’s very underpowered by today’s standards, and it will have a very difficult time browsing the web as the newest operating system it supports is 10.5.8 leopard. With all of that said it does hold some value, vintage Mac’s are cool. You can get these online for about $40-60 pretty regularly, or here for $180. It was apparently $200+ at some point but they covered that sticker with $180 when it inevitably didn’t sell. I doubt it will sell for the revised price as well. The last one on this tour is probably the most egregious to me. Here we see an HP w1907 19 inch monitor from 2007. It has a 1440x900 resolution, DVI and VGA port and 11 pounds of weight. I’ve seen this same monitor for a lot of prices over the years. At goodwill and savers they’re usually $10 or so, at garage sales I’ve seen them for as little as $1. I’ve driven past them for free on tree lawns as they await a picker or garbage truck. I’ve worked for companies where we PAY to remove models similar to this. All of that said what is the asking price here? $120. One hundred and twenty American dollars. I’ve gotten 1440p monitors for HALF of that price years ago when they would cost more on average. Long story short the prices are absolutely insane for some of the electronics, so much so that I didn’t even bother to keep shopping and walked straight out the door after taking these pictures. I’m not even sure where the prices come from, it definitely can’t be online because they would notice their $120 monitor is selling regularly for $25-$35.

Picture it, you walk into the thrift store of your dreams. You’re surrounded by vintage items that you usually could only find on eBay or depop. That dream turns into a nightmare because you CAN’T AFFORD ANY OF IT. There is absolutely no way that you should walk into a thrift store and leave empty handed because the prices are so unbearably high! This was my first and last time visiting this establishment. I genuinely felt so upset that I could’ve cried. You all are taking advantage of people. I don’t see how anyone was in there checking out. I would not put a dime into this company even if I had a billion dollars in my account. I’m going to reach out to every bureau under the sun because there’s no way that this is justifiable. I used to work at a resale shop, where people were getting paid to give us their stuff, and we didn’t even price things this way. We got vintage items all of the time. You all are getting these items FOR FREE and selling them for 10x the price. Who in their right mind is donating these items to this place. Keep those clothes and sell them yourself. Or if you just want to donate them, do not take the items to Village Discount. Those New Balances I attached? I just got those new at VOA Thrift for $4! That’s how it should be when you walk into a thrift store. You should be able to find cool items at a mind blowing price. You all wanted $70 for those same shoes. I thought all thrift stores were getting pricey (which they have) but man you all blew it out the water. You all had a fake Louis Vuitton purse for $90! These items are used and donated. You’d be better off going to the mall. You can find better deals there. You all owe me money for wasting my time and gas coming to this place. The items that were marked for $1 were mediocre. I wouldn’t be surprised if you all went out of your way to make sure none of the good stuff goes on sale. In this economy?? Are your employees even getting paid enough to afford this stuff? A greedy thrift store is horrible. Based off of pure principle, do not shop here. ā€œDiscount outletā€ šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Girl, just go to Tanger Outlets if you wanna pay full price for...

Shopping here feels like you're in a prison. Every single person that walks in is considered to be a shoplifter. There's more cameras in this place than in an airport, and it's plastered with signage reminding you stealing is bad and that if you suspect someone is stealing to call the management or even just the police.

And if you forget you're constantly being filmed, from time to time the person watching the cameras will say something over the PA system directly at a customer like "The size is on the bottom of the tag." Though god knows what they're saying half the time, some of them don't seem to know English very well and their accents are thicker than syrup.

There's alarms or warnings or some sort of beeping going off all the time over the speakers, or else their constantly calling for other attendants to help somewhere.

The merchandise is not taken care of or organized in any way outside of putting them in certain sections. Some are aligned by color but that doesn't last long from people pulling them off the racks and putting them back on where ever. If you're looking for something in your size your gonna be looking for a long time as you check EVERY SINGLE TAG because they won't arrange them by size like every other thrift store on the planet.

Merchandise is routinely wrinkled, funky smelling, damaged, or just laying on the floor. If you think "well it's cheap what do you want?" Freaking Goodwill is cheaper and they take better care of their store and merchandise. It's ironic they just throw your bought items in a garbage bag when you're done. They couldn't spend 5 bucks to buy a couple boxes of plastic bags?

The only positive thing that can be said about this place is they do have a very large selection, you're bound to find something here if you're patient enough to dig through the isles for an hour. It's cheap too, but it's a thrift store so giving them credit for that is like giving a restaurant credit because at least it sells food. And in some cases it's pricier than other thrift stores.

Avoid unless you're desperate or have high tolerance for poor...
