I am dealing with a billing issue for an annual preventative exam that should be covered at 100%, however, the doctor's office is sticking me with the bill due to their error.
During my visit I saw some labs that I had not seen in my prior preventative exam, so I inquired about them. I was reassured by the doctor herself that they were covered at 100%. Something told me that it wasn't accurate, but then I thought, the doctor has to be right..right? Wrong. I received a bill for the three labs in question and now the doctor's office is telling me that I might be stuck with them if they can't figure out a way to code them as preventative.
The bill isn't astronomical, but it's the principle that I actually asked and was told that they were, and they weren't, and instead of the office taking ownership and covering it since it was an error on their end, I'm having to pay.
Lesson learned, do not trust the doctor. Do your own research, even if you need to call your insurance provider right there in the office before you receive your labs. Do your own research always and do not believe what anyone else is telling you, regardless of...
