The salesmen at Bailey's are great. Since Bailey's has a price match policy and is black owned, I decided I would furnish my home completely from there and use that when necessary. I had the salesman go over the layaway policy. I was told that if I put something on layaway and changed my mind about it I could cancel the layaway but the money would have to go towards something there with no penalty. That same day I put a set on layaway. After shopping around, I found something else that was more reasonably priced at a different place. I was able to cancel and change sets with no problem.
When I was almost finished paying off that set, I went to put a mattress on lay away. After I did so I went to find it cheaper to have it price matched. When I went back the salesman that I had been dealing with was not there so I did so through one of the managers. Only after calling the other furniture place to verify the price and having me wait about 10 minutes while she complained about the transaction with one of her colleagues did she agree to match it. When I got home and calculated what she charged vs what I had already paid, I realized that she did not really price match the item. Instead if letting them know that I noticed, I decided I would cancel the mattress order altogether and put the money towards completing my bedroom set and not do business with the company anymore.
When I explained what I wanted to do i was told that there would be a fee of about $200 to cancel the layaway. I explained how I was told their layaway works and she shrugged her shoulders and repeated the policy. I asked to speak with another person. Her response was that she was the manager. After about 5 minutes of reasoning she walked away from the counter and into an office. I assume she went to call someone with more authority. All I can do is assume as she never excused herself from the conversation or anything. She just walked away. The conversation was very unprofessional. She, as well as most of the other people I encountered at Baileys had no sense of customer service and was rude as hell. When she returned she agreed to allow me to exercise the policy agreements that I was originally told.
I called to check the status on it after about a week and a half. It had been waiting in the warehouse. We went ahead and scheduled a delivery at the time of the call. When the furniture was first delivered the dresser had a hole in the back. I know the delivery men saw it because I was looking out the window and saw one point it out and they shared a conversation about it. I decided not to mention waiting to see of they would tell me out of honesty. They did not. They also forgot the headboard so scheduled to complete the set up at a later date.
I pointed the hole out after the gentleman finished setting up the rest of the bedroom. He called me about an hour later and scheduled a date to come out on a Monday morning a week later and change the back panel. Monday morning came and I called to see if I could get an actual time range. I was told that the managers were in a meeting and one would have to contact me as there was no notations on the account. I waited until about 2 in the afternoon before I called back only to be told we had to wait on an answer. I got a call back later saying it would be another week. While we were scheduling I told them what would be a convenient time for me. They asked if I could be home at an earlier time. I said no. We scheduled. On the day of the delivery a different lady called me about 4 hours sooner than the time agreed on asking me to make it home immediately since they were in my area and to inform me that the whole dresser had to be changed. When they got to my home they spent 5 minutes complaining because they felt like the damage was minor before they did their job.
The set is finally complete after about a month of rigarow. My house is brand new but during the process Bailey's managed to ruin the wall leading...
Read moreWhen it comes to furniture Baileys is the only place Ive bought from in the last 10 years.Mainly because it’s family owned by a friend and I wanted to support him. He would always give me 20% off plus free delivery. The latest pieces were bought March 31. (Can’t remember if they honored the 20%)I knew furniture could take up to 3 wks to deliver.. April came and went, i went to check on it in May. Albert, who’s great at what he does, gave me the date of June 11. Said it would definitely be in. Well, today is June 22 and although it’s in I won’t be able to pick up Monday the 27th because he says they need to get it ready.. I literally stay on the same street about a mile down. Although, my children and I have been waiting 90 days for a sofa and loveseat.. and I was patient, they still said they wanted me to pay 120.00 for delivery. Now, I’m no genius, but I am a business owner. I feel like they could have met me at least halfway on the delivery.. they didn’t offer but I asked if they could go half. Alberts reply was No, because that’s how they pay drivers. Ok. I’ll pick it. No worries. He said I may be able to help you load but bring your own tie-downs. What!! I love that store but this is where it ends..Thst was the last piece of furniture I will ever buy. Mr. Bailey say’s he’d rather lose money than a customer. To bad they don’t go by that philosophy anymore. The 3 stars are for Albert. He just works there but he’s a...
Read moreI have done business with Bailey's on several occasions and I was so pleased that I will continue to do business with them. Someone wrote in their review that they are too expensive, well in Bailey's defense, you get what you PAY for. They have quality furniture that will last a life time with proper care. They also have unique pieces. As far as the comment about Farrah, she is the only person that I deal with when I visit Bailey's. She has always been very professional and knowledgeable as far as the furniture and products Bailey's sell. We must remember with every action there is a reaction. Meaning, if you have an attitude when you enter a place a business, then you will probably have attitude given back to you. Come on people this is a African American owned establishment and instead of the community trying to destroy Charles Bailey's business we should join forces with him in an effort to build up the Oak Cliff community. Additional, Bailey's is one of the finer businesses' that is still located in the Oak Cliff community. Other businesses has already left and moved to Cedar Hill and surrounding cities. I don't know about you, but I live in Oak Cliff and that is where I want to spend my hard earned money. Please let's work together as a struggling community while restricting ourselves from trying to tear our few business owners in...
