I wanted breakfast, breakfast this morning. I had heard that this place was in the area where I was working today. I googled and went to their website. I looked at the menu and literally couldn't choose what I wanted bc it was so much that I wanted to try. So I told myself that I'd start off with something basic and if I enjoyed that I would be back to try more. I ordered the fish, grits and eggs with a pancake. I really didn't know what to expect but I was hoping it was good. I placed my order online. They texted an arrival time to pick up. Surprisingly, it wasn't a long wait at all for my food. I walked in and the staff was nice. It wasn't packed with customers but this was an early Tuesday morning. They had a lot and when I say a lot, they had a lot of to go orders waiting. They asked my name and passed me my food. I stood at the counter to check everything to make sure it was correct before I left. I was impressed with the packaging and the look of my food. I was hoping the taste would match. I noticed I didn't have any butter for my grits so I asked could I have some. The guy told me that he thought they were out but he would check. He brought me back some liquid butter and I was good with that. I got back to work, sat down at my desk and began to take out my food. The portion sizes were great. I started with the grits. I was so worried about butter and didn't even need it. The grits were so flavorful and delicious. They weren't watered down, which is normally the case at most breakfast spots. I literally got full just eating the grits. I pinched off the catfish, and it was good. It was seasoned well and it was domestic catfish so that was two positives. My eggs were egging, of course. I had to add salt and pepper. I also ordered a single pancake. Yall the aroma of the pancake was so delightful. It was fluffy and tasty without the syrup. I couldn't eat all of my food. Yall even the toast that came with my food was good. It was buttered Texas toast. I would definitely 10 out of 10 recommend. I plan on visiting again soon...
Read moreI’ve been to this location two times. The first time, my family and I came out to breakfast. Food was decent, small portions, no refills on certain drinks, however the service was great. I came back last Saturday morning with my boyfriend. He loves a good black owned establishment and I was eager to take him! We got there pretty early to beat the weekend rush. We arrived at around 830am, there were two other tables there. We placed our order and then waited and waited and waited. People began to come in and be seated. Tables started to fill up. About 35 mins passed and only one table got their food which was crazy to me. I also noticed DoorDash delivers came in and their food was ready to go. The front desk constantly kept bringing out to go orders. How are they prioritizing to go orders over customers who are literally sitting in your restaurant??! A random homeless young woman came in and started going to each table begging for money. Her bottom and all her private parts were showing. It was very disturbing. A guy was in there with his young daughter and gave the young woman a couple of dollars. You would’ve thought she’d leave after that or at least someone from the staff would escort her out of the restaurant but they didn’t. She went over to an older elderly woman sitting alone and literally kept bothering the her. The older woman looked so confused and even reached out to the servers who were walking right passed the situation laughing about it instead of helping her get this woman out of their establishment. Meanwhile no one else still hadn’t received their food! By this time, I’m pissed and my appetite was ruined. I went up to the check out desk letting the woman in charge know that I no longer want my order and that they need to get the homeless person out because it’s not a good look! Especially around food! My boyfriend and I left and went to another restaurant where we got served immediately. I hate that this happened and I won’t be returning. Black people, we have got...
Read moreThe server and greeter were nice and friendly. The food was okay, 3/5 in my opinion. As a frequent traveler/foodie the food was decent but not something I would absolutely have to return back to should I visit Dallas again. I had the fried salmon and waffles. The salmon was good but the waffle was okay. It wasn’t nasty and if I were a local it would be a last minute place to dine at. The sweet tea was not fresh. However the major downside to this is their system was having an upgrade, which that information was not provided to me upon being seated, my card was charged an extra $100, as what the server claimed after I’d checked my account and noticed the extra charge, was a hold to ensure that they were paid. Mind you my bill was paid in full plus a tip and it definitely cleared to their system. This hold was has not yet been released and my review is being posted on 12/30 when I patronized this restaurant Friday 12/27. As a person who is traveling for the holidays, it would have been beneficial for them to inform me before about the possible hold, so I as a consumer could have made an informed decision to patronize this company or take my services elsewhere before the hold was placed on my account. Especially heading into the weekend as most banks are not fully functioning. The other crazy and frustrating part about this business is the hold was 2x what my bill was. The manager apologized but I believe it’s best to inform the customer before this error that could have been avoided, rather then offer an apology with no actual solution to rectify the problem. Again the food was not nasty but it’s not a place that I would say I must come back to. Then with the unexpected hold it’s turned to an...
