I lived at Bishop Flats for two years and had a fairly mixed experience, with both positive and negative aspects.
The Challenges: When I first moved in, the AC wasnât working, and it took two weeks to be fixed. Although I had started my lease a week before moving in, I had to stay elsewhere for a few nights because the apartment was too hot during a heatwave. The management did provide a hotel room after I contacted the emergency line a few times, but this delay was unexpected, and they wouldnât authorize a new hotel night until it was confirmed after 5pm that day that the unit wasnât fixed, leading to a fairly annoying disruption in my week.
Later, a storm caused water to seep into my unit, leading to significant moisture and mold issues. The floors and some of my belongings were affected, and there was visible mold under the windows and balcony doors. It took three weeks for the affected areas of drywall to be repaired, but I also had to purchase my own dehumidifier to control indoor humidity levels.
Communication with management was often slow, requiring multiple follow-up emails to get responses. There were also unannounced renovations on the first floor, which improved that section but left the upper floors in need of similar updates.
The common areas also had maintenance challenges, with carpets frequently stained and carrying pet odors. While these issues were eventually addressed, it took repeated work order requests to resolve them. Lastly, my security deposit took over 30 days to be returned, despite no damage to the unit.
The Positives: The location of Bishop Flats is excellent, particularly for anyone who enjoys the Bishop Arts area. The rent is reasonable for the neighborhood, and being within walking distance to local shops and restaurants was a big plus.
The units themselves are equipped with decent fixtures, and if youâre on the north side, the view of downtown is a nice feature. While maintenance could be slow at times, they generally resolved issues when requested.
The complex also shares a pool with Bishop North, which is a nice amenity, though it can get crowded. Events organized by the management were a good effort to foster community, and I appreciated those opportunities to meet neighbors.
Other Considerations: Parking can be a challenge, as there arenât always enough spaces for residents, and there is no designated guest parking. A reserved parking space is recommended, especially during busier times in the Bishop Arts area.
Overall, Bishop Flats has a great location and some good amenities, but communication and maintenance issues affected the overall experience. Three stars reflect the balance of these...
Read moreIâve been living at Bishop Highline for 6 months now and I couldnât be any happier with my decision. Highly recommend the property!
I toured on a Friday evening and signed the lease online later that night. I even moved in the day after! The leasing team was so accommodating to my situation and needs. In regards to the move in process, the team was extremely communicative and professional - extremely fast to respond to email, texts and phone calls. The instructions were always thorough and clear.
The finishes/amenities are well thought out - theyâre sleek and modern. And you actually use them. My friends and family that come to visit LOVE the shower: which are glass shower doors - not the sliding shit b/c obvs, that would be too hard to clean and they're huge, and the walk-in closet. The fridge is super spacious and it has a bottom freezer, great to storing all the food. But the most thoughtful amenity would have to be the keypad door entrance. It makes it super easy to let dog walkers stop by to get my dog and lock up.
Packages get left at your door and if Amazon delivers to the wrong door, Iâve had my neighbors return it to me. Lol they accidentally opened it and brought it back to me.
Iâve had a couple of minor maintenance issues. And the staff has done a phenomenal job to complete the request within 24 hours. From the leasing to maintenance staff, everyone is extremely warm and kind. I definitely donât get the whole, âneed to be nice to you because youâre a resident vibe.â Theyâre really genuine people, so whenever I have an issue, itâs easy to pop by the leasing office to get some help.
I will add that parking is a bit tight, but no worries, thereâs a lot of parking spots on street since Bishop Arts does get quite packed on the weekends. But you can opt to buy a parking spot if there are any left.
Iâve lived in the Design District and Victory Park prior to moving to Bishop Arts. I donât hear a lot of 2am drunkies filing in that often. The neighbors here are very respectful and I would say pretty quiet. Everyone has always been extremely friendly and considerate.
For what you pay and what you receive, you really canât pass up living here. 10/10...
Read moreI cannot speak any more highly of my experience thus far with Bishop Highline. Devynn, the leasing agent who helped me tremendously while I was still living out of state and moving to TX for the first time, was so quick to answer all of my crazy neurotic questions for weeks and always had a solution or an answer. Since living here for a month now, I can confidently say I could not be happier!
As an example of the attentiveness of the staff-- I had a little issue with my shower a week or two ago, and after emailing Devynn, within 24 hours maintenance had come through, bought the part to fix it, and had it ready and fixed by the time I was home from work! Completely seamless and again, SO quick to react. Devynn has always been right there and ready to help in any way she can. Since moving to the state on my lonesome, it's really comforting to know you live in a building where they genuinely care about your happiness living there and are always available should you need it.
The apartment itself is lovely and I love being so close to the little downtown of Bishop Arts. It's less than a one minute walk to loads of restaurants and shops. Particularly obsessed with Oasis Plants :)
I have always felt safe here as well. I've walked around at night at ease (really important to me to have a safe neighborhood feel). Obviously I'm always vigilant, but just to ease the minds of anyone wondering about safety.
Thank you Bishop Highline and Devynn for being so great. Very happy to be here...
