Alright, buckle up buttercups, because "Written by the Seasons" was a rollercoaster of culinary highs and "oh, honey, no" lows. First off, I had to call and do the ol' reservation tango, you know, the "oops, can we move it?" shuffle. The lady on the other end was sweeter than a peach cobbler in July. Seriously, if they bottled her kindness, they'd make a fortune. So, huge kudos for that! Stepping into the restaurant was like walking into a posh, yet snug, hug. Think elegant cabin vibes. But then, reality hit. It seems they decided to play a game of "how many tables can we Tetris into this space?" and let me tell you, it was a close call. I'm pretty sure I did the "sideways crab walk" more than a runway model. It kinda killed the cozy vibe when you're practically sharing elbow grease with your neighbor. Now, the food. We started with the pork belly appetizer. It was...interesting. Picture this: a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth pork belly, but with a significant portion dedicated to its own personal fat reserves. Like, $16 bucks, and $6 of that was just a "fat-tastic" situation. It was good, but I felt like I needed to schedule a cardiologist appointment afterwards. On the flip side, the zucchini basil salad? Pure, unadulterated joy. It was like a summer picnic in my mouth. For the mains, we dove into the spicy Korean noodles with salmon and the confit duck. The duck was divine, crispy and succulent. The salmon was also lovely, but, and this is a big but, where was the spice? My tastebuds were expecting a fiery fiesta, and they got a mild-mannered tea party. And, for the love of crispy skin, keep the skin on the salmon! It's the best part! Their wine list was decent, nothing to write home about, but it did the job. And dessert? Well, let's just say my waistband and I had a little chat, and we decided to "respectfully decline" due to "pre-existing gravitational challenges." In short, "Written by the Seasons" is a mixed bag. Lovely staff, gorgeous ambiance (if you can ignore the table-jenga), and some truly delicious dishes. But they need to dial down the fat, crank up the spice, and maybe hire a spatial relations expert to rearrange the furniture. Would I go back? Maybe, if I'm feeling adventurous and have a good pair of walking shoes for...

Written by the Seasons ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (4.5/5)

We walked in on a whim without reservations and were pleasantly surprised. The hostess was warm and accommodating—letting us know we could be seated inside as long as we finished before 6:30. Since it was just after 5, we happily accepted and settled in.

From the start, the experience was excellent. Our waitress was prompt, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the Summer 2025 menu. Even the table water was rosemary-infused—a subtle but lovely touch that set the tone for what was to come.

Starters & Small Plates: • Simple Salad – Light, fresh, and dressed with a clean lemon-olive oil blend. A perfect beginning. (gf, vg) • Boquerones – These Spanish white anchovies were bursting with flavor, paired with herbs, lemon, and olive oil. (gf) • Hamachi Crudo – Served with Fresno chilis, mango, and a smoked ponzu broth. The hamachi was delicate, and the broth tied it together beautifully. (gf) • Grilled Shrimp – This cold dish was a surprise favorite. The shrimp came with mango, avocado, Fresno chili, and a citrus-coconut vinaigrette. Incredibly refreshing and vibrant. (gf)

Entrée: • Grilled Salmon – A standout dish. Served with lentils, fennel, cucumber, and beets, all brought together with a horseradish vinaigrette. The flavors were bold yet balanced, and the texture of the lentils was spot-on. (gf)

Dessert: • Pistachio Pavlova – This was an absolute highlight. The pavlova was crisp on the outside and airy inside, served with fruit, and a rich caramelized white chocolate cremèaux. A brilliant balance of tart, sweet, and nutty. (gf)

Service:

The staff was on point throughout the meal. Drinks were refilled promptly, and tableware was replaced quickly and discreetly. Everyone we interacted with was courteous and professional.

Final Thoughts:

I left feeling full but not weighed down—a sign of thoughtful, ingredient-driven cooking. This was a refreshing, satisfying experience. The space, the service, and above all, the food, work in harmony here. I will absolutely return.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars Highly recommended for anyone looking for seasonal, refined, and creative...

Wow. What a night! My husband and I have been Tribal devotees for some time now, so when we heard there was a going to be a new concept from the Tribal team, we waited with bated breath for the opening. And man, it did not disappoint.

First of all, just a great spot for a night out. It's in the heart of Bishop Arts, has a beautiful concept and layout, and an incredible attention to detail in every aspect of the design and decor. Based on our experience with Tribal, we knew the staff and service would be superb, and that was confirmed from the moment we walked in. We were provided with excellent attention and care all night, with lots of check-ins.

Now let's get down to business: the meal. Unreal wine selection, great start to the night. The garden focaccia is that perfect start to the meal when you arrive hungry. Warm and filling and with the olive oil and pecans is almost impossible not to devour immediately, but I highly recommend saving room, because there's more goodness to come. I really enjoyed the fresh, simple salad and my husband went all in on his kimchi pancakes. We ordered the steak and we're honestly going in with tempered expectations, only because we've had some pretty incredible steaks and have some high standards. Well, that steak sure showed us. The cut tasted like picanha and was perfectly cooked with a beautiful salsa verde as garnish. We could not have been happier. So much so that we were both set on skipping out on dessert. Thank god we didn't because we would've missed out on the apple cranberry crumble and I simply have no words to describe it's perfection. We also shared the chocolate espresso creme which was also excellent and with that we were officially done for the night.

We're so thankful we got to see the early days of this amazing new restaurant and we're SO excited to see how it takes off from here. You will not be disappointed by this perfect date night spot. Much love to the the staff and...

This restaurant is a rare gem among Dallas restaurants. It’s almost perfect, and almost perfectly lives up to the high expectations they have being an official Michelin guide nomination. Our server, Jojo, was a masterclass in charisma and leadership. I felt seen and confronted out of my routine by her attention & presence. The food is everything you want and then some. There are some surprising flavors, and the menu pushed me to the limits of my comfort zone and comforted me regardless. My one quibble is this - as a former coffee professional - I must say this is not the kind of coffee quality that I think should be expected from a restaurant of this caliber. I had a standard restaurant cappuccino, complete with foam that’s over aerated & an attempt at latte art that… shouldn’t be mentioned. I also had a taste of the drip which was like, really good diner coffee. I understand it requires investment of time & capital, but an investment in a quality automated pour over machine such as a Curtis Gold Cup, Marco SP9, or Tone Touch, and a quality grinder such as a DF64, Timemore Sculptor or Acaia Orbit would be much more in line with the rest of the menu. Not affiliated, but if I was looking for some support in setting something like that up, I would contact Eiland Coffee, Harp & Bowl Coffee, or Viewfinder Coffee. Of course, they are all going to try to talk you into more expensive equipment than you need, but you’ll need their support so it may be worth it.
