I will not be booking at this location again nor will be able to refer it I rented a room at Bishop Arts Hotel Blue Lofts from Wednesday, April 5th-Saturday, April 8th. I was very disappointed in my experience and regret booking at this location for my sister-in-law's wedding. I will not be booking at this location again nor will be able to refer it. I feel feedback in important in order to improve. I have emailed the company and their response was that they were sorry for the things I listed and will look into the, and that it was disclosed prior to booking about no housekeeping. Everything pertaining to this hotel is done through text. There is no on-site staff to assist with things. They text you all information needed for check-in as well and if any issues occur, it is through text. You have a code to get in the parking, a different code to enter building, and then a third code to enter your room. There is no cable. Streaming only and you have to login to your own personal streaming as no streaming services are provided. There is not a USB port for charging, so be sure to bring your own in-wall chargers. No housekeeping on-site, so if you need another roll of toilet paper or towel, you have to go get it yourself. The toilet paper and towel holder were both broken and hanging partly off the wall. I was given only two very thin hard bath towels, two wash cloths, and two hand towels and there were small stains on some of the towels. There is no elevator, so caution as far as all that you pack if staying on the second floor because you have to carry it up two flights of stairs. The day of the wedding my door handle feel off. I tried to use it by placing it back on throughout the day and notified the office via text, but they said that due to the Easter holiday, no one would be available to fix it. Later that day the entire insides of the door handle feel out getting black grease all over my hands and I notified via text again that more of the handle had come apart. Their response was just to lock my door. I was not about to do that and risk being permanently locked out and stranded outside the door without my belongings. The rug was so dirty and worn that I rolled it up and put in the closet as I did not feel okay walking on it for the weekend. The top of the writing desk had white worn stains, the couch had stains on both seat cushions, the coffee table book covers were worn and paint was chipped on back of the door and the wall under the window. The two reading lights on either side of the bed did not turn on. The light would make a small flicker, but neither would turn on. Everything is just worn and needs a facelift. I would hope this hotel could continue to succeed, but I see several areas that need improvement to receive re-bookings or referrals from people. I travel a lot for work and stay in all sorts of hotel accommodations within varying price ranges and feel that this is not a place that I can recommend at this time. Do yourself a favor and book at another name brand hotel where you can have the "luxury" of cable, housekeeping, and breakfast. If this was priced exceptionally lower than other hotels, it would make sense, but it is not.

We recently stayed in the Nairobi Deluxe Suite overlooking the pool. It was lovely! Check in and check out were a breeze, the parking was gated and very convenient (I've seen some reviews say that it was difficult to find the lodging and the parking, but I am not sure how you could miss it). This is a cute, unique little spot that is a nice departure from the usual hotel stay experience, and we loved that. The room was clean and tidy, very quiet, and included all the basics. The furniture was very comfortable. The king size bed was SO cozy, I did not want to leave it. The common areas, stairways and hallways were tastefully decorated and quiet. It was nice to be able to enter the different spaces using only keypad codes, instead of having to remember physical keys or a card that might be deactivated if kept near a cell phone in a purse or pocket. We enjoyed a couple of dips in the little pool, which was refreshing and relaxing. While swimming/lounging, we ended up chatting with another friendly guest who said she has stayed at the Bishop Arts Hotel many times and it is her "go-to" spot when she is in the Dallas area. We came to Dallas to see a concert at the Bomb Factory, and it was incredibly convenient to get to and from downtown, Deep Ellum and of course the Bishop Arts district from this hotel. It was a great value for the money, and we will certainly be back! Note: I did not leave any rating for "service" because this is a boutique hotel with limited staff services, and we didn't need to use any as we only stayed a single night. Next time we will aim to stay longer!

Once we arrived and successfully got into the building, the hotel was great. But I do want to caution people that there are 2 places close to each other that go by “Bishop Arts Hotel”. We initially came to the correct location on Zang Blvd, but the name on the building was “Chatelet by Bluelofts”. So we thought we were in the wrong place and went to the other location on Bishop Ave. The Bishop Ave location DOES say “Bishop Arts Hotel” on the outside of the building, but it was not the Bishop Arts Hotel that we had booked with. And it didn’t have a lobby or staff. While at the wrong location, I called our hotel to see where I should go, and they sent me an email with all the information that I had not previously received (like room number, door codes, parking lot gate code…) Since the room number they sent me didn’t exist at that location, I realized we were at the wrong property. After loading the bags and toddler back up, we got to the correct property and got settled in and ordered food to be delivered. Predictably, the Grubhub driver couldn’t figure out where to go, so he left our food at a random door on the side of the building…but that’s a different story. Nice room, nice bathroom, nice lobby. Just make sure you triple check the address and request the access codes if you don’t get them by check in time.

Terrible experience getting into hotel! I had a last minute trip from San Antonio to Dallas which required an overnight stay. I chose a French restaurant in the Bishop Arts District and then a hotel within walking distance -- which was this hotel.

My schedule was to leave the next morning at 6:00 AM driving a rental van.

I booked through Expedia at about 10:00 PM. I received a confirmation from Expedia within a few minutes. Deal done. Now just go to the hotel and check in. Right? WRONG!!

This hotel calls itself 'contactless' -- which is a euphemism for no service.

I arrived at the address. The hotel name is not on the building. There is no clear entrance. The entire block is surrounded by a fence or buildings. All doors were locked.

After double checking the address and walking around the block, I was able to get into the parking lot as a car left. Then waited at the rear entrance until a family exited.

Inside there was an unmanned reception desk -- with a phone number. I called the number. The person that answered was taken aback that I had not read my email which contained four codes -- for the entrance, parking, room, and pool. To him, I was at fault for not knowing the secret codes.

Turns out the codes were in an email sent at 12:56 PM that afternoon in a email via Expedia. At that time I was on my way to the Arts District -- with no reason to open an email from Expedia. I had already received a confirmation.

The hotel's web site gives no indication that you needed 'secret' codes to get into the hotel. The Expedia confirmation made no reference of the codes or an indication to look for an email containing the required codes.

My suite (201) was clean and attractive. Obviously designed by someone with good taste but no knowledge of what is required in a hotel room. For example, my room had no desk or table -- so setting up a PC or eating a takeout meal was not possible. The bed was too high to sit on to tie my shoes. There were chairs -- but they were designed to relax on a patio, not for work. The thermostat was impossible to understand. (You can see room 201 on the hotel's web site.)

I never saw any staff. Luckily, I did not need any assistance.

I blame these problems on both the Hotel and Expedia. The hotel for not being honest about what to expect and Expedia for not knowing what the hotel was requiring.

The make things worse, when I took the 14 minute walk to the French restaurant, it was closed for a week...

I popped into this place being invited there by their guest. This is an old re-purposed building, but they have done an incredible job on appearance. It’s a cement block building that looks like it may have been a hospital. By today the interior finishes and features are very appealing, right down to the furniture, fixtures, and amenities.||I’ve never been exposed to a hotel operating with no attendant. There is absolutely nobody there, and they are completely dependent on electronic locking mechanisms. Their prices are quite attractive, and what I saw of the lobby and sleeping rooms was very impressive. This is not just another base grade box for sleeping, but you won’t find anyone on the property to help with anything.||They have locked automatic gates for their parking area, which was ample. Both gate, building, and guest room entry are handled by cipher locks. You pay your room rent online and they provide you with the information you will need to access your room. And, their rooms each have different themes, but the insides of the sleeping rooms were very nice.||If you need some more towels that’s provided downstairs, and of course during the day they have housekeeping come in after guests leave. It’s run pretty well as long as the guest is in agreement that it’s totally self-service. It’s in a neighborhood that is healing from some lesser years, but that too is slowly being remedied and nice businesses and people coming back to the area. The whole Oak Cliff neighborhood has been a land of contrasts for decades.||It’s on the trolley line if that is of interest to you, but it’s not near any major interstate road. Dallas’ public transit still doesn’t take people where they need to be very well. They are trying, but after 60 years of getting rid of public transportation they have a long way to go before it would be comfortable living in the city with no car.||For what I saw I would use them, and recommend them for what they are doing. By getting rid of extra labor, the pricing is quite attractive, and what one gets for the money is a LOT. There’s plenty of dining in the neighborhood that will be delighted to bring you whatever you desire. IT depends on the reason for my visit if having nobody onsite would be adequate for me.||There’s a reason it gets so many high reviews, so have a look. It's sort of ironic that this belongs to Blue hotels, and there's virtually...
