I don't know where to start about The Gibson Company! Short version: the combination of their beautiful units and sensational property management made me the happiest little tenant ever.
Long version: MANAGEMENT AND STAFF: Josh is so personable and understanding. The maintenance crew Anibal and Jorge are friendly and efficient. Maintenance requests are always handled quickly. It has that family-run feeling to it, without ever being invasive.
UNITS/BUILDINGS: Gibson owns a loooot of properties on these streets, so each building has its own unique units. Their open spots lease very quickly, so I recommend jumping on the opportunity to view them as soon as you see them listed. Aside from the buildings being well maintained, their courtyards make for a wonderfully secluded area lush with plants (it's seriously like the Secret Garden when it rains). The roof terrace gives you an amazing view of the skyline and you have front row seats to the Fair Park fireworks.
AFFORDABILITY: Compared to other buildings in Downtown/Deep Ellum/Fair Park area, Gibson is extremely affordable. And you're not just paying for the unit--you get so much more: trustworthy management, respectful neighbors, parking, and ideal location.
TENANTS: Everyone who lives here pretty much keeps to themselves, while still maintaining a community feeling. It's a good balance that's hard to find in most places. I luckily have not had any issues with rowdy neighbors.
THINGS THAT OTHER PEOPLE MAY NOT LIKE BUT I THINK THEY SHOULD QUIT THEIR CRYING: -State Fair season brings a lot of traffic. The difference is night and day. I personally think one month of craziness is worth the otherwise quiet and peaceful area the rest of the year. -THESE BUILDINGS ARE OLD AND HISTORIC! The high ceilings can be difficult to heat/keep cool, but if you're living in a loft, you should expect this. And you may see some pill bugs or small spiders. OH WELL. If you cannot deal with this, I'm sure you can find a new beige apartment complex to pay double for. -Yes there are loiterers sometimes. Again, if you like living in areas like this, it's to be expected and it's lightyears better than Deep Ellum.
Sorry for the novel. I just loved...
Read moreI can't say enough great things about Expo! For my work, I am constantly walking through apartments, touring units and meeting new managements. It's hard to find a place that really checks off all the boxes, but here at Expo, they do! And this is why I think that:
Units - Each unit is so unique from one another, that there is a space here that can work for everyone.
Rates - Because each unit is so differnt, their prices also match the unit. It's one of the more affordable apartments in Dallas plus units are zoned for both residential and commercial, so you have the opportunity to run a business out of your unit!
Management - Wow! Top tier management! This is really what separates Expo from the rest. They actually care about their tenants. They want a community, a future for Expo and you dont see that every where.
Dallas isn't known for nature, but between each walk way are gorgeous green paths! Great amenites like a pool, sky deck, secure parking and a tiny but mighty gym! Near the train station and freeways so very easy to commute anywhere in the city!
If you are thinking about touring, do it! You will be wildly surprised how much you end up falling in love with...
Read moreI've lived on Gibson property on and off since around 99-2000. These folks have become like family, and exposition park is the closest thing I have to a home. Regardless of where life may take me, I feel that I'll always be welcome here. Properties are always well-maintained, maintenance staff is wonderful, and the rent is typically a tad bit lower than neighboring Deep Ellum. Slightly older, more mature crowd; much quieter. Much nicer. Come for a visit. But not if you're a tool....
