My aunt who by the way is a senior citizen applied for a first floor unit with washer dryer connections at The Reserve at Lake Highlands approximately 12 days ago via online. She was advised that she did not qualify for that particular unit which is strange because at that time her proof of income wasn't fully received so how was an approval obtained? Instead of Todd (I'm assuming the property manager) stating mam you did not qualify for the unit you originally requested however, I can offer you the smaller unit with no connections on the second floor he automatically switches the unit without her agreeing to it. Needless to say she still doesn't have an official approval and her requested move in date was 09/29/18. On Saturday Sept.15 she was finally able to make contact with Tara in the office and was told she was approved and that she could move in on 09/29/18 but she would have to have Todd contact her on Monday to provide these details, which of course did not happen. We are able to view this same info via the online portal which includes prorated rent, deposit, lease start/end date etc. but I’m assuming since Todd previously told my aunt the portal doesn’t provide real time info this info is incorrect? She has emailed Todd numerous times, called the office of which no one rarely answers, left messages via the online portal and voicemail. Today she was able to make contact with Todd and he advises he just returned to the office after being off 4 days has a lot of work in front of him and what is it that she needs? At that point she told him due to his attitude it doesn't even matter and disconnected the call. I'm sorry but this is not how a business is ran. If you're having a bad day or if you're ill perhaps take PTO, FMLA or leave your issues in the car as life has taught us that until resolved the issues will be there waiting for you when you return. Funny thing is my aunt was previously told that if she changed her mind on the apartment her application and deposit paid could not be refunded. How so when she did not apply for that particular size unit and it did not meet her requirements and surely not obtaining an approval/move-in date for almost 3 weeks should definitely constitute a refund of her deposit. If these types of issues are occurring prior to move in I can only imagine what what it would be like to live there and what the tenants who live there...
Read moreThis place deserves 0 stars. PLEASE DON'T MOVE HERE!!!! I could not have had a worse experience.
If you don't want to read the details, here's my takeaway: management changes constantly and leasing office people will be your worst nightmare (talking about you Lorena) very unsafe (high crime, no gates or security, no deadbolt on the door, bus stop right outside and people from the street walking in and out) a resident told me not to live there because a raccoon got inside here apartment and leasing office won't do a thing ???
This place just changed management and they had 3 staff changes within two weeks. Not comforting when you've sent a money order, waiting to get your application approved, and phones/emails are never answered. This was my first big move by myself. I was coming from out of state and the lady in the leasing office, Lorena Varela, could not have made this a worse experience for me. She told me my move in date but I hadn't been approved yet and I was calling everyday leading up until the move-in date. Obviously because I was moving out of state and had a lot to plan for (Uhaul, hotel stays, etc). She never answered the phone and couldn't care less that I was moving from another state. I get approved 2 days before move-in. She never sends the welcome letter like she promised multiple times until the day of. She told me to pick up my keys between 3-4 and even though it was a two day drive, I still make it on time and show up at 3:05. The leasing doors are locked. Lorena comes out and laughs at me, telling me she forgot she has corporate training and to come back after 4. THIS was a blessing in disguise. When I did the apartment tour a month prior, it was a really bad rain storm so ran in and out of the place. Move in day I realize how sketchy and unsafe this apartment complex is. Broken down cars, people from the street walking in and out, gates are broken and never work, no deadbolt on the door of the apartment!!!!! She comes out, annoyed, and was like did you sign the lease yet?? Suddenly this woman has urgency HA. Then, these two young women were waiting outside the leasing office with everyone else and tells me to not move here. Why you ask?? This poor girl had a RACCOON get into her apartment through the vents. It was actually INSIDE her apartment and the leasing office won't do a single thing!!!! So I had a UHAUL and thought I would be moving into my home but instead had to get a hotel and scramble to find a new place to live in a day or two. Disgusting customer service by this place. I take reviews with a grain of salt but if you are even considering moving here, PLEASE DON'T. Also Lake Highlands is a nice area but this is the...
Read moreWhen I first came to tour these apartments , Claudia showed my cousin and I a 2 bedroom 2 bath. We instantly fell in love with it , it was everything we wanted and wrote down. Also , this will be our first time renting an apartment so we went back to the office to let them know we’re totally interested and when we will be able to give them the money. I come literally the next week gave a thousand dollar money order to put down on there then she tells us we’re not going be able to get the apartment we want. So I asked is there any difference with the other one she’s trying to give us , Claudia says “no, it exactly the same” . So my cousin and I tell her that we want to move in October 23 but we try to change it to the 1st of November later on so we wouldn’t have to pay all this extra money but she said no and that its already available. So the day comes , I call to ask if it’s ready then I basically get the run around that they’re just going give a call back but don’t. I call again a few hours later , nothing still ready and that they have housekeeping over there now and she will let us know when it’s ready. At this point , it’s about be 6 so we call and Claudia says it’s ready and we can come now. Y’all we get there with a trunk full of our things and no lease has been sent to us so I knock on the door , Claudia comes out and say there close. All of us is frustrated at this point , i say ma’am we literally just got off the phone with you and came with all our stuff , she then ask if we signed a lease that never got sent to either of us. To make this a little shorter we ended up getting in at 8pm and I’m just going attach pics to what we walked into. Next day I wake up to a 500 dollar current balance of charges that’s every been paid off already, then i haven’t able to use my shower or toilet , all we have is cold water and There’s so much more going on. I’ve done cried and prayed more times then I can count since I got here , it’s only...
