So I’ve only had African food three times and out of those three times I can definitely say this last time I was a little disappointed. I know every time I go eat African food I’m gonna spend more than $30 and typically I get a very filling amount of food. So I found this place near one of my clients homes and I was like oh my gosh I haven’t had African food in a minute. Let me try this place out. Great ratings great reviews. I was looking forward to it. I had to call because the open sign wasn’t on when I pulled up and there were no cars in the parking lot so I had to ask if they were open and they said yes. Then I walk in ordered my food. The gentleman that was at the cashier didn’t look like he was having the best day, but I didn’t think too much of it. They were just two young teens working.
So I received my food and I was very shocked that I paid almost $30 for this…
Any time I have African food I will always leave to take some home with me because I just could never finish it, and I didn’t even buy myself a drink because I was looking forward to be filled and I was not filled at all. Also, I was very sad with the meat size because I felt like the oxtail I think is what I had was barely any meat on it mostly bones.
Besides all that, this is the BEST EGUSI I have ever had, I just wish I...

Secondly I was well aware of the price before placing an order, but I was expecting the quantity to reflect the price. Lastly, I wrote the initial review before I took a bite, but since we’re here now the rice was cool, nothing I haven’t had before though. Now the meat… When I bit into it Overton from Living Single appeared and yelled “tougher than tool belt leather!” Meat was so chewy took me 30 mins to finish one bite. Meat was chewier than gum older than the African Disapora.
I like to consider myself as someone who’s reasonable but charging almost $30 for this amount of food is egregious. Yes everything is more expensive nowadays but if a business has to price gouge to break even, find another venture.
I really want us to understand that just because your food tastes good, you may have a vision to serve your community or whatever the case is, us as a people have to stop with these practices at restaurants. It’s not sustainable and I guarantee if things don’t change, no one will be able to review this place a year from now because it...
Read moreI have to say, this place was a very pleasant surprise. The food quality and service were outstanding, easily some of the best Nigerian dishes I’ve had in all of Dallas. I’ve visited many African restaurants here over the years, and while some start off strong, the quality often drops after a year or two. My sincere hope is that this restaurant keeps up its current standard because it’s truly worth preserving.
Interestingly, I almost didn’t come here. About a month ago, I was searching for African restaurants I hadn’t tried yet and came across this one. A particular bad review put me off at the time. Fast forward to today, I saw an ad and decided to give it a try without realizing it was the same place. After eating, I checked the reviews and saw that same negative one again, and honestly, I couldn’t reconcile it with my experience. The food was exceptional. I even ordered different soups just to test consistency, and each one impressed me.
I’m not dismissing anyone else’s experience, but for me, this was hands-down one of the best African food experiences in Dallas. I truly hope they maintain this quality for...
