On Black Friday, I visited Kay jewelers at the Danbury Fair Mall in Danbury, CT, to purchase my fiance a gold herringbone necklace. This location was once a pleasant jewelry store and the only place I would buy my jewelry. However, on 11/28/2021 and 11/30/2021, my experience took a turn for the worse - I experienced poor customer service, miscommunication, and dishonesty from both sales associates. On 11/28/2021, I purchased a 16", 5.5mm, 14k yellow gold herringbone necklace for over $1,000, along with the lifetime warranty, from a sales associate who did not seem to have proper customer etiquette. My fiance specifically wanted a 14" or 14.5" length to sit high on her neck. The sales associate ensured me that I would be able to get the herringbone chain shortened to 14 inches instead of 16 inches and that the warranty would cover the cost of this change, which prompted me to opt for the warranty. With a promise that the necklace would be adjusted as needed and persuaded by the Black Friday sale that was happening, I went ahead with my purchase. When the necklace arrived at the store on the following Monday, my fiance and I excitedly headed to the mall so she could put on the necklace and identify the exact length for adjustment, as planned and promised. We headed over as soon as we received the call, as we needed this change done as quickly as possible. Upon arriving at the mall on Monday, the sales associate from Friday was not working. When the new sales associate retrieved the necklace for us, we asked how long the turnaround would be to shorten it to the 14" as previously promised. The new sales associate expressed (very aggressively) that they could not shorten a herringbone chain, which was extremely frustrating to hear since that was precisely what the sales associate had promised us. We then requested the sales associate bring the book out to see all the size options and discuss custom options with her. She informed me that it would cost 3x as much to create a 14" custom herringbone, which was ridiculous to hear when the necklace would be made with 2" less of gold when we were promised that the 16" could be shortened (and based our purchasing decisions off of that), and considering that in your book, all other chains come in a standard 14" size. How can we resolve this? I want to avoid reporting you to the Better Business Bureau, but I will do what's necessary to rectify this situation because I was sold a product that was misrepresented to get a sale, and your associate also falsely advertised...

This review is long overdue, but I just want to thank Lindsay and Elisabeth for going above and beyond to create my dream ring. As restrictions were lifting for COVID, it was impossible finding a jewler who had my desired diamond, cut, and clarity. Many provided false promises. But that all changed when I met this dream team. When the first time I spoke to Lindsey and told her about what I was looking for in a diamond, within the same day, (only took a few hours) she was able to locate the diamond and have the diamond availiable the following week. I came that week (met Elisabeth) and purchased the diamond. Since my ring was custom made, Lindsay and Elisabeth provided their undivided attention to the details. We worked together and I was so impressed by their kindness. They truly care about their customers and making sure they are satisfied.
