We booked this rental based off the reviews and photos of the condition of the boats. I chatted with the owner Mark several times to get comfortable with the booking. He answered the phone himself every time. Our charter was a full 8 hr day which gave us plenty of time to do everything. We rented a pontoon boat with a floating mat. It was clean and stocked with 2 coolers of fresh ice and bottled water. No onboard head BUT like any attentive host, plenty of options to stop along the way and use land based bathrooms. A brief safety check along with lifejacket location and 1st aid kit and we were on our way shortly after 10am. We had thought about renting just the boat vs using a skipper. Turns out Capt James was probably the best decision we made. Local water knowledge, navigation and secret spots along the way were key to taking the stress out of doing it all ourselves! The trip was whatever we wanted it to be and capt James was always flexible to any changing plans A nice easy jaunt along the mangrove lined waterway was a great way to start the ride. We did the 28 mile loop and the experience literally builds as you go. A little info and history along the way. As much or as little interaction as we wanted. We got a great narration of millionaires row. All I can say is if you think you are doing well , others are doing better! We asked for a 1 pm lunch stop and went ashore at the fisheries for a really nice sit down lunch and drinks on the pier overlooking a the waterway! Capt James had our boat tied off and we took as much time as we wanted including feeding the monster Tarpon circling the pier! Next stop one of the sandbars soaking in the clean warm waters, mat out and relaxing! One final stop at another sandbar and a quick walk over to the Atlantic Ocean side was a great way to wrap up a day. Lots of points of interest along the way and if u like looking at other boats, this is the ride for you! If u like seafood and a crab experience, consider stopping off at the rustic Inn crab house as an alternative option. If you run the loop clockwise the rustic inn comes on the way back to base so if u want crab and seafood for lunch, run the loop anti clockwise. Overall we had a great day on the water, one that exceeded the boat days we have up north during our summers. Thanks Capt james for taking all the stress out of skippering our own charter and thanks Mark for all the other stuff that happens to make this one a...
Read moreWatch out for this guy especially if you want to do self drive. Decided to rent a Luxury Deck Boat for 3 hours. First of all, the seats where dirty and the boat speedometer did not work, so impossible to see the speed I was going. Police pulled us over because of that and we lost 30min there. We wanted to see the Haulover sandbar so when we finally got there the time was almost over. We called Mark to let him know about this and he told us to Take our time. By saying this we assumed that he would not overcharge us. When we returned, the first thing he does is lifting up the propellor out of the water and says hey you damaged the propellor. I looked at the propellor and it was scratched.
We did not hit anything, the boat felt the whole ride the same even when we returned. So this is damage that was already there. It is also a coincidence that he did not even look at other parts of the boat but immediately at the propeller. He knew the damage was already there. No one showed us the propellor before rental. I asked him to show me photos without damage before the rental and told me he would send me an email with all proof and photos with time stamp.
Was shocked to see that same day he charged my card $300 extra hour charges and the full $1000 for propellor damage, $1750 in total without even sending me the email with proof of no prior damage.
Damage to a propeller doesnt predict total failure of the prop or damage to the lower unit or shaft. Even aluminum props are hammered back to shape in case of dents. The damage on the propeller are just scratches, can be defined as wear and tear.
Instead he just pocketed an extra $1000 and will keep renting the boat and repeat this with other guests. You have...
Read moreI meant to write this review months ago but catching up after a busy summer!
When my wife told me she found a deal on groupon for a boat rental I was a little apprehensive, but figured we'd give it a shot.
We live in NYC and visit FLL a couple times a year. We also have our own pontoon boat that we take out on the lakes upstate in the summer. So I wasn't too worried about operating the 24 ft deck boat that we rented.
The date of our original reservation there were thunderstorms and so the company called and asked if we wanted to change the reservation without any additional charge. So we did.
When we arrived, Alex was there to greet us. He was very polite and very informative and gave us all the information that we needed about navigating the canals. He even drew us a map, haha.
We elected to get the boat for only 4 hours as it was our first time and wanted to give them a try. I will say this... Now that we know they are a legit company and provide quality boats we will definitely rent from them again. I highly recommend that if you are planning to use the boat to go to swimming destinations to book it for the whole day. I know we definitely will in the future. The biggest reason being that you have to maneuver through all of the canals until you get out into the bay and it takes about 2 hours each way. So we only got to hang out in the bay for about half an hour.
The price for the quality of boat can't be beat in my opinion, even without the groupon. I'd have no problem paying the full price. I think that we may even look into getting one of the bigger boats to do some more exploration. Can't wait to...
