Horrible experience. Jamie the owner is deceitful, rude and looking to make inflated profits over retail in the time of COVID.
Obnoxious, rude and deceptive. I had been calling every week for the past several weeks inquiring about a specific bike model that was backordered. Despite asking numerous times if I could put down a deposit, I was told they don't take deposits and I would just need to keep calling and checking every week, which I did.
Today, I called and was informed the bike I wanted had just arrived 5 minutes ago. all great, they took all my information and credit card and processed a $200 deposit and told me the bike would be ready in a couple of days for me to pick up.
20 minutes later, I get a call from Jamie (The owner) , saying he can't sell the bike to me as he pre-sold it to someone else. I asked how that was possible when the bike just arrived 5 mins ago. he claimed he had taken a deposit from someone before. I asked how come I was being told every week when I called that they don't take deposits and his response was, the bottom line is I can't sell you th bike do you want your deposit back or not!
I know he did not have a deposit from another customer and is simply looking to sell it at a higher price than retail. I have never experienced such rude and deceitful practices.
Jamie, the audacity and nerve for you to speak of integrity is mind blowing. Integrity would have been you honoring the fact that the sale was committed to me via a depost that had been charged to my credit card. Integrity would have been honoring the fact that I had been consistently calling over the past 6 weeks and you telling me a completely different story. Integrity would have been you apologizing and not asking me if I wanted my deposit back or not when I asked you how this ended up happening? You did not care to provide me any information, You DID NOT offer me another bike in a different color, that is simply you LYING, because according to you both your bikes were pre-sold by you (even though when my depost was taken, your employee confirmed with you while I was on the phone that it was okay to sell them to me), on the phone with me you stated the next shipment wouldn't come in until October or November. You did not bother following up or offering to make up for the frustration, inconvenience and disappointment, rather you were RUDE and your tone was incredibly dismissive, and now you decide to post a reply, not once bothering to reach out to rectify the situation. You have Zero integrity and yes you may have had postiive reviews in the past due to uneventful situations, but it's evident how you operate in times where Integrity is called into play....
Read moreWhat a great bike shop! Brought bike in on 6/23, without an appointment, to have the crankset that was on the bike when I bought it used, replaced. I thought it was the standard 50/34. I had bought a 46/30 to replace it. Christian was very helpful. I told them to get to it whenever they could. Tuesday, 6/25, I got a call from Dean who was at their Seabrook, NH location telling me that the crankset on the bike was already a 46/32. Apparently, the previous owner had already changed it. He suggested just leaving that set on since it was a better model than what I had bought and I agreed. I can’t believe I didn’t count the teeth before deciding to buy the new crankset. Dah! I got a text today, Wednesday, 6/26, telling me bike was ready for pickup. Went and got it and was told there was no charge. I offered to pay something since I know they had time into it, but they refused. I gave them the crankset I had bought and told them they could used it or donate it, whatever they chose to do, then thanked them profusely and took the bike home.
I’ve been riding and working on my own bikes for 50 years. I’m new to Massachusetts, having moved here in 2022. Unfortunately , where I’m living, there is no space for me to no longer work on my bikes. I’ve dealt with a lot of bike shops over the past 50 years and I’d rate Western Bike in Danvers up there with the very best of them. I...
Read moreThe people at Western Cycle are fantastic. My wife and I bought bicycles and a car rack from them. We ordered the bikes and a carrier, a few days later the owner called us, told us that they bikes and carrier were going on sale the next week and that they would give us the sale prices. Saved us hundreds of dollars. They were great every step of the way, spent a lot of time with us, showing how to mount the carrier and load the bikes. They have a great location with a trail right next to them to test ride the bicycles - not just a parking lot like most everywhere else we tried bicycles out. They never pressured us to buy anything. Even when we asked about extra accessories, they advised us to try them out for a while “as is” before jumping into spending more. We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Western Cycle and will definitely recommend them to everyone looking for a bicycle. We won’t need new ones for a while, but when the time comes, they will get our business and if we do decide we need extras - we will be buying them there. There are so many online companies out there, but we couldn’t have found better people to do business with. It is nice to have a great local business - we feel very fortunate to have decided to shop...
