New Brothers was once a staple in the community. I have been here since I was young and my late grandfather was friendly with the owners. Food is undeniably delicious.
I love to support local and especially fellow Greeks. However, my most recent experiences, (plural) will not bring me back.
Customer service was never warm & fuzzy but the new(er) generation is rude. A business built on blood, sweat and tears by Greek immigrants will be lost by those who didn't help build at all.
Their avgolemono (chicken egg lemon) soup is delicious. Although I do make it myself, it is a long, involved process (as most Greek dishes are). When I'm not in the mood or have the time, New Brothers is my go-to and I buy it by the quarts. Usually 3 or 4.
Every time I ask for bread (instead of crackers), you would think I am asking for their first born.
The first time it happened, I ordered over the phone. 4 quarts. He asked if I wanted bread or crackers. I said yes. He asked how many and I said 5. He goes "5?! No. That's too many!". So after what felt like a negotiation, I ended up with 4.
The last time it happened I ordered a pick up via DoorDash. The woman at the counter was absolutely miserable. No hello, no manners, nothing. I asked for bread and while I didn't have to negotiate for the 4 like last time, her attitude was nasty.
Fast forward to today. Online order via DoorDash for pickup 4:40-4:50. I arrive at 4:30 and told them I have a pick up but that I was early and not to worry. The girl at the counter goes over to let her coworker know, who happens to be the rude woman I dealt with previously. She points to the counter for me to get. Not to hand it to me, nothing but also not surprising.
How long my order was sitting on the counter when I was 10-20 minutes early is definitely concerning. I spent my teen years in the restaurant business and recently I owned a successful restaurant in Los Angeles and made Yelp's Top Places to Eat.
Safety wise, keeping a hot soup out and not temperature controlled PRIOR to the pick up time is not only a rookie mistake, but dangerous.
I opened the bag to ensure the soups were still hot which thank God they were. No bread in sight and I dared not ask for 4. I asked for 2 and was met with huffing and puffing from the woman. She then handed it to the girl who put it in the bag, I thanked her and she just stared at me - which seemed like forever. I ended up going "OK. Well have a good day!"
I don't know who raised these individuals but they know nothing about human decency. Employing incompetent family members will be the demise of...
Read moreOMG 😱 I love this place. A friend had told me about it and I kept saying I have to go. So on my way home one Saturday I decided it was time. It's set up similar to a cafeteria I guess, but with WAAAAY BETTER food. Guys I wouldn't go here on a first date, it's more of a neighborhood cafe than impressing a girl. You pass along many selections, when I say many I mean many. I couldn't decide so I chose two. I got meatloaf, mashed potatoes and carrots and spaghetti with meatballs and meat sauce to take away. I got it home and decided I would have the meatloaf and save the spaghetti for tomorrow. I love meatloaf and mashed potatoes so if it's not good I take it personally. Hallelujah it was delicious. The only issue was there was so much. 4 slices of meatloaf about an inch thick. It was Shaquille O'Neal sized and I got two more meals from it. I'm from a big Italian family and I'm a really good cook. All Nonnas are. I reheated and it was lovely. The sauce was really good. I hate an acidic sauce! This one had no acidic bite to it. The meatballs were large and yummy. I hate hard meatballs and don't call them meatballs if they're cut up in pieces. These were actually meat balls.
Because I couldn't decide with all of the choices I went back the following weekend. Turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and carrots. What can I say? Another winner. I can not stress enough the size of the portions. Sometimes large portions are to make up for the food being not so good. Not the case here. The food is excellent.
The men behind the counter are friendly and jovial. As a first timer they welcomed me and explained everything to me. I didn't feel rushed or like I was bothering them.
All in all New Brothers gets a very enthusiastic TWO 👍👍, one...
Read moreBrothers is definitely a go to family home cooking type of place. Delicious food and very good size helpings. 10 STARS. I go there all the time. Good People.
UPDATED REVIEW Brother’s has always been our Family go-to for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can’t say enough positives things about the Owner, the family that work there, and the Food. If the rating number scale was 1-10, I would pick the 10 and would say 20 in the review itself. The prices could be double and we would still choose Brother’s. Good old fashioned Quality. I give them a 100 stars instead of a 5.
I went there today with my Grandson and my Daughter to celebrate my grandson’s birthday who LOVES Brothers Deli. I unknowingly left my purse there. Half an hour after we left, my bell rang. It was the young gentleman that worked on the register cashing people out that came to return my purse. I was so shocked and so very grateful because if I had realized I left it before he returned it, I would’ve went immediately into a panic mode. The people that own and work at Brother’s are very hard-working decent people. They definitely go out of their way to make the customer happy. This was above and beyond what a customer would expect which says a lot about them. They deserve the Praise.
I want to thank them all from the bottom of my heart and pray to God that they all stay safe and healthy through this COVID crisis. If you have ever been to Brothers then you know what I’m saying is totally true. If you haven’t tried them, please do so. You’ll be glad you did!
God Bless...
