St. Paul's Thrift Shop — Local services in Daphne

I'm very surprised by the negative reviews. I have been shopping here for at least the last 5 years, probably longer, and I have never had a negative experience. The majority of the staff are volunteers, only a very few of the employees are paid. No one has ever been rude to me... some of the older volunteers do seem a bit grouchy every now and again, but not to the point of what I would call rude. During my last visit I did notice that some of the home décor & furniture items do seem to have gone up in price, but the quality is good and I think it's still reasonable pricing. Their new addition on the building is nice. For anyone who is truly in need and can't afford the prices, all you need to do is ask to speak to someone in charge & if you discuss your situation with them I am sure they would be...

My husband and I were offended and persecuted at this thrift store. We came to donate several boxes of books. We were asked if any of the books were "pornography" to which we replied "No." However, while we were shopping at the store, the lady behind the counter was very loud and made suggestions about us donating pornography. And yes she used the word pornography loudly. We were only donating back the books we bought from their store, which were biographies. I believe she was persecuting us because we had Jesus' name on our face masks. (How can this thrift store have 4.3 stars when majority of these comments are bad.) Wow! What an awesome shop! My family and I had to evacuate Panama City Beach due to Hurricane Michael and were staying at a hotel nearby. We saw this shop and had to stop in. What an excellent selection and very fairly priced. So many great books and home decore. But the best thing about our visit to the shop were the friendly staff members and fellow shoppers. So so kind and polite. That has been the best part about this whole ordeal of the hurricane situation, is the people we’ve met. So full of love and support.
