Superstars and Superheroes — Local services in Davenport

So, I’ve been wondering how I am going to review this shop. Because I am the type that could just walk in and make sure I walked out with something fun. (Which is exactly what I did). But I think it’s more accurate to say this is the kind of shop that it’s best to know exactly what you want before you get there. I’m sure there is some sort of organization but luckily the shop owner was extremely helpful and friendly. He knew exactly where things were and found some of old 70’s comics I’ve been looking for! Now don’t get me wrong, you can just wander in and explore. I do plan to come back and dig for something unexpected. Digging is a bit of my favorite part of comic book hunting and this place looks fertile. I saw he also had some sports cards and some other stuff as well. The wall books looked great too. I believe he uses the Overstreet guide for pricing. All and all a great place to pop into. Easy parking and other shops in walking distance. I will definitely be back in hopes of knocking a few more books off...

This place is certainly a hole in the wall. Long boxes everywhere that are in terrible shape and even sitting vertically. Asked about some books and person just pushed the longbox to the floor, BAM. They don't care, I don't care. Most are only bagged, most in ruff shape, nothing is priced. Everything is very unapproachable. Once you have selected your books they then look up via overstreet and pitch you a price which seems to not take condition into consideration. So you are then put on the spot to evaluate if you want it or not. If you got the time to look thought this mess you may find...

I travel around the country for work but in my off time I love to hunt for comics wherever I am but I’ve not found another shop like this one! I started shopping here 30 years ago but took time away from the hobby for a long time. A couple years ago I started back up and thank goodness Superstars & Superheroes is in my area. This place is a comic book junkies dream !!! Larry is a great guy that is easy and fun to talk with and crazy knowledgeable about his inventory. I feel very blessed to have this be “my” comic shop, all others pale...
