I am always looking for yarn shops locally and when I travel somewhere. I first found this shop on Instagram and looked through their online store for the types of yarns they carried. Took a ride out there on a Saturday. I am in a wheelchair therefore how accessible a store is really matters. Was pleasantly pleased that they had a large open space with a great front wall where they can showcase yarn color for the month or can use their yarn to shape a picture on the wall. This is high priority real estate as we say in the retail world. I found a cool fabric yarn ball keeper sewn out of jersey in tie dye colors. Most of the time shops have a netting material to put around the ball of yarn that they sell or a âyarn sweaterâ. I really liked the jersey, held well and very easy to move from one color to the next but I should have bought more than oneđ˘. No worry though because the best is yet to come! You break out of this front area straight ahead is the yarn from companies we would all recognize but then I was shown the wall of their dyed yarn! I love hand dyed yarn and then to look to the right and find they are dying yarn right out in the shop! Oh yes!!!!! No hiding in the back room! I had been approached by a young lady who was so knowledgeable and helpful. She asked questions and then asked me what attracted my attention in colors. Made it so easy to choose but knowing I would be coming back. The space to get around is so important with my electric chair and my Canine Companions for Independence Service Dog, Bauer II, without running into every fixture. They had a nice sitting area for classes or just to come in to knit with comfy chairs and couch. I loved that. No fold up chairs! I wanted some pink yarn and two other yarns but they were in DK. So I checked out and headed out. I thought about it and thought I would just contact them and get what they had, then came the SURPRISE! They offered to dye yarn in bulky weight in the colors and how many I needed. What a gift! This means if Iâm looking for a color scheme and I could not find it in my weight, I had a dyer just a call away! I can not tell you how many times I loved a color but it only came in sock weight or if it came in worsted, aran or bulky, the store may not have had the count I needed or go into a yarn shop and you find out they donât carry that vender. The service I have received from Hearts on Fiber has been excellent and a complete joy to FINALLY find a yarn store that will be happy to dye yarn for me in my yarn weight in the color I was looking for just put the icing on the cake. I highly recommend you stop in and check it out. Bring your needles and project and sit in a comfy chair and enjoy being able to knit outside your own home and maybe someone you have never met will take a seat too and you will get the opportunity to meet another friend! Thank you ladies for making my week. They sent me an invoice and I paid online and they are rolling it and it will be on its way to my house! I canât wait to...
Read moreI signed up to take three one-hour one-on-one knitting lessons here, and I'm positively hooked (which I guess is more of a crochet pun?)! When I first went in, I felt intimidated by all of the various yarns, etc., but I was immediately put at ease by how warm and welcoming everyone was. My teacher, Logan, was infinitely kind and patient and moved at my pace. I left with what I suspect will be a lifelong love of knitting. I can't wait to go back and take more group classes and learn more. This place really is a gem, creating not merely a place to buy supplies and take classes or summer camps, but actually build community, something so desperately needed right now. I'm so glad and...
Read moreI've been taking crochet lessons here and I have to say! The lessons are worth every penny! Now that I know the basics I've been able to understand online tutorials better and let my creativity bloom. I've told so many people about Hearts on Fiber and I will continue to do so!
Every Tuesday they have a social crafting time where people bring in the projects they're working on and get to hang out! It's so neat and so cool. Now that my lessons are over I plan on attending the Tuesdays to practice my crafting, make new friends, and get awesome advice on projects!
If I could give Hearts on Fiber 10 out of 5...
