TL;DR: It took over a month, but they finally corrected their mistake of sending a used lens from a questionable third-party seller. will send you a clearly USED item and call it as "new".

Edit 1: Seller tried to remedy the problem by sending a "new" item with a bunch of small freebies. They said they will ship the new item as soon as the original item was scanned by UPS. It did not happen. I had to wait a few days for it to be shipped.
Guess what happened when I finally got the 2nd item? It's still a used item! I bought directly from the manufacturer to compare the two and the item that comes from this store is clearly used!
Edit 2: Full story: I purchased a Sigma lens through Amazon. The first lens I received was clearly used. I reached out to the seller, who acknowledged the mistake and promised to send a "new" lens along with some small compensatory items.
However, the second lens I received was still visibly used. I ordered a lens directly from Sigma’s website and compared it to the one from the seller, and it was obvious the second one was used as well. I contacted the seller, but they didn't respond. I then reached out to Amazon Customer Service, and it took two attempts to get them to send a message to the seller on my behalf. Even then, the seller refused to respond.
At that point, I contacted Sigma directly to ask about their authorized dealers. They confirmed the seller was authorized but then discovered the second lens wasn’t even in Sigma’s system. Sigma reached out to the seller, who admitted they had run out of inventory and had sent me a lens from a different third-party supplier. It took a couple of weeks and my direct involvement with Sigma to resolve the issue.
The good news is they corrected their mistake by drop-shipping a new batch of lens directly from Sigma to me. So, I now have a new lens.
