Ryerson Hall — Local services in Davis

While Ryerson Hall may seem like a typical student dorm on the surface, there are real issues that deserve attention. Safety and mental health support on and around this part of campus are not as strong as they should be. Tragically, a student was reportedly found dead in a nearby dorm — an incident that should have been a wake-up call for UC Davis.

Instead, there has been little visible change or urgency in how the university supports students in residential life. From poor mental health resources to administrative inaction, it’s hard not to feel like these issues are being brushed aside. Dorms should be places of safety and support, not just a checkmark on a housing list.
