Bonnett's Book Store — Local services in Dayton

Dusty bookshelves, loosely-organized sections, that musty smell of old paperbacks. Bonnett's is, if nothing else: comfortable. It's quiet, prices are affordable, and if you want something cheap to whet your literary whistle you could do much worse, and not much better. We aren't Detroit after-all and don't have a John K King, used and rare books.

I'd rather drop a few Benjamins at Bonnett's, than I would a few Hamilton's at either Half-Price or Second and Charles, anyday. Neither of those places have the personality, or even niche selection you may find here.

I first went to Bonnett's in the 70's when I was a little boy and instantly fell in love with it. The owner's father, grandfather and grandmother hold a special place in my heart because on each visit they treated me very well. I love this store. It has a wide selection of books, magazines and comics. I always find something fascinating when I visit. On top of all this there is the wonderful collection of toys and collectibles spread throughout the store that I have loved to look at through the years. The first time I went, I learned upon arrival that they have extremely limited hours, so it was my fault I missed them. The second time, I came during listed business hours, and they weren’t open. I checked their IG, which said they’d be opening 30 minutes late today. Ok, so I waited. They didn’t open. I visited another store while I waited longer, and they still weren’t open when I finally gave up 45 minutes after they were supposed to be open.
