Dusty bookshelves, loosely-organized sections, that musty smell of old paperbacks. Bonnett's is, if nothing else: comfortable. It's quiet, prices are affordable, and if you want something cheap to whet your literary whistle you could do much worse, and not much better. We aren't Detroit after-all and don't have a John K King, used and rare books.
I'd rather drop a few Benjamins at Bonnett's, than I would a few Hamilton's at either Half-Price or Second and Charles, anyday. Neither of those places have the personality, or even niche selection you may find here.

Read moreI first went to Bonnett's in the 70's when I was a little boy and instantly fell in love with it. The owner's father, grandfather and grandmother hold a special place in my heart because on each visit they treated me very well. I love this store. It has a wide selection of books, magazines and comics. I always find something fascinating when I visit. On top of all this there is the wonderful collection of toys and collectibles spread throughout the store that I have loved to look at through the years. The second time, I came during listed business hours, and they weren’t open. I checked their IG, which said they’d be opening 30 minutes late today. Ok, so I waited. They didn’t open.
