Gold's Gym — Local services in Daytona Beach

MOTHERS, PARENTS, DADS In light of a recent arrest at gold gym I have to share my experience at golds gym. THIS GYM IS NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR CHILDREN OR BABIES. I wondered why they didn't have any babies I even asked the child care workers and they said that they haven't had babies in some time. From my experience this is why. My first day going to the gym after signing up for a monthly membership I tried to hand over my baby to the two workers there and they both looked at eachother not wanting to take my boy.."Oh no you got it to the other" and the other shook her head. Like they never held nor took care of a baby before.. First off . Unprofessional. Finally one of them hesitantly took my baby...... That threw me OFF. And made me SO nervous leaving my baby who can't talk nor fend for themselves in there care even though I was in the same building. This of course kept me from working out the hr I was aloud for my infant care. ( which was never explained nor told to me by any staff that KNEW I would be taking my children and my infant with me.) What was also never mentioned was that there are specific times that you are able to bring children in which always clashed with my schedule. We brought this up to them and they refused to cancel or refund anything for us. I felt not only tricked but lied to just so we can get on a contract. Then come to find out and ALREADY CONVICTED PREDATOR WORKS THERE RECORDING WOMEN WORKING OUT.. Who we had encounters with.. Y'all REALLY dropped the ball on safety and for what? The money? When i went to go pick up my children's from there kid care one of my kids told me that the two workers there kept telling the kids not to change or do certain things on the Playstation like alter the character appearances or play certain things. Ridiculous...didn't realize this is your home. This is child care let them kids play how they want on the Playstation. You have literal children watching kids.. Bear and a darker tall girl, (didn't get her name). Knowing what I know now I'm glad we mever went back. My kids safety is priority. I still want my account cleaned up of all the fees and refund. You all put my kids at risk of harm not only by 1...

A year ago I reviewed this location and gave it 4 stars. I consistently used this gym 5 days a week and sadly in the past year this location has been in a steady decline. In this time span I’ve had a homeless guy enter the location and steal my sneakers while I showered and for months there was a problem with a male who used the sauna in the am for it’s other than intended purposes.

The biggest issue has been cleanliness the locker rooms and the showers have reached levels of disgusting. They regularly smell of urine and body hair accumulates in the corners for weeks at a time. I’ve brought this matter to the attention of the front desk and nothing has changed.

The final straw came when the gym made an agreement with some amateur sports team who subsequently made it impossible to workout in the mornings. The group literally takes the gym over to the point no one else can utilize whatever area they monopolize. I along with other members spoke to the front desk about this issue and we were told that they hope we could work around it. Equipment is nice and employees and owners are nice. It is kept clean. That's it for the nice stuff. You are paying an al inclusive gym price for a cardio room and a weight lifting floor. Additionally there are dozens of anecdotal stories I have heard about difficulty canceling memberships. I will only speak from my own 2 experiences. I froze my account while I was out of town for 3 months and I was charged for all 3 months anyway and no refund was given even though I went through proper channels. When i finally cancelled my membership all together I was told that I forward paid for 2 months, and would be charged and entire month that I would not be going to the gym because of a 30 day notice. But I pay month to month, so, when I cancel and i am still paying for over 54 days how does that make sense? Also, they will claim it works for gold's memberships all over the country but this is not true. The membership is only valid for the Daytona and Ormond Beach locations.
