LONG POST This is what I Hop’s International Speedway Blvd is NOT any of these things. I received a call to pick up a few of my students that I have been mentoring over the past two years. They knew I would be there shortly after 11 because I don't believe young ladies should be out after 11:30 at the latest. At 11:04 they called to say they were ready as I approached the restaurant I noticed one of the young ladies was sitting outside with a few other children. A gentleman was coming out and was disturb because the children were made to leave the restaurant because they weren't ordering as he said he was asked to leave as well; however, he told the manager I am a customer. He stated, he questioned why they were put out and he was told by the “Manager” Ashley if they were not ordering they had to leave. “Its in our handbook” The gentleman asked if he could see it and he was told NO she didn't have to show him. He felt the students were treated unjustly because they were not causing a problem simply waiting for the girls to receive their orders. My girls came to the car and one needed to go back in to get syrup. As I entered the restaurant with her the store had only two people dining, no one was at the desk to greet anyone and the student walked to kitchen door saying excuse me several times, and was ignored by Ashley until she felt like walking out the opposite door of were the young lady was standing trying to someone’s attention. The student said excuse me again before she came to see what was the problem. The child was only asking for syrup. Ashley handed her syrup then rudely asked, “HOW CAN I HELP YOU?” I then told her she couldn’t help me with anything. She quickly turned to walk away and I ask her what was her name. She gave me her first name and said she didn’t have to give me her last name. Then stated she would call her manager. These students were not hurting anyone. Secondly, I take them to the same I hop most Sundays for a breakfast after church, as of this night I will not be returning to spend my money in a place that mistreats children. Their policy is seriously flawed because I don't always order but the girls eat, and I have never been asked to wait outside because I wasn't ordering. Just because they are black doesn't mean that they don't have manners and know how to be respectful so please respect them as well. Thank you to the gentleman who stood up for them. No smile or integrity in...
Read moreWe ordered our food online at 9:29 am, pancakes and an omelette. Was told it would be ready in 15 minutes, but figured closer to 20 minutes. I walked in, still figuring I would have to wait a few mins. The guy, seating people was very slow, showed no urgency for the couple of us customers that were there picking up orders. I understand that they were slow. Most places put a rush on ToGo orders, and we were definitely not a priority. After 25 mins past our pick up time, I was informed that everything was ready, but they were waiting for the hash browns. After another 15 mins, I was informed they were still waiting for the hash browns. "They had to go to the other side of the house to get them and cook them", is what I was told. The restaurant isn't that big, unless they walked across Daytona Beach for them. Finally after 45 mins past our pick up time, our food was finally ready, for a total of an hour just to get some pancakes and an omelette. And didn't even get an apology for the wait. Just said, here you go and have a nice day. But because we had to wait 45 mins for some fried potatoes, all of our food was cold and cheese had hardened. The pancakes didn't come with the toppings on them, they came in those tiny, little cups that sour cream comes in, and not even halfway filled. So there wasn't even enough for the pancakes then if we sat inside. Definitely will never order online again. Never had this type of service at any other IHOP. If we knew it would have been like this, we wouldn't have tipped before...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped here for lunch on a Saturday about noon time. When we were seated, the waitress placed one disposable menu on our table. When I asked for a second menu, I was told that they were only providing one per table because there was too much waste. She also directed me to a scan item taped on the end of the table and said if we wanted a second menu we could use our phone to scan the little square and view it online. I was not impressed with this practice as I so not use my phone to scan items and do not have scanning capability; additionally, I do not want to look at a menu online. I am paying for a meal and feel that providing a menu is little to ask. If you are going to throw away used menus, do not used expensive printing formats (ex: color, glossy, etc), a simple black and white on copy paper would suffice.
As for the food, I ordered a BLT with onion rings: the sandwich came with overcooked, crumbled bacon; unripe tomato slices, and an excessive amount of lettuce. The onion rings, however, were real onion with a crispy coating and tasty.
My husband had sausage gravy and a biscuit that came with a side of fried egg and breakfast sausage links. When it arrived, the sausage links has been placed on the biscuit with the sausage gravy over the top of them; we expected a side to be served "on the side" and we're disappointed.
I doubt we will return to this IHOP in the...
