Disclaimer: If I could give a negative star, I would.
I went into the store yesterday to sell around 11am (an hour after they open at 10am because I didn't expect it to be super busy on a thursday morning) and before I even brought bags in, I asked "hi! I have 9 bags is that okay?" And to my surprise the owner immediately gave me attitude with a nasily "not really, we have a limit today because we have other people that need to sell too and you should be considerate of other people". (I am always considerate on a normal basis and she doesn't know my character but I digress). I was polite in my next response being "ok how many bags can I take in today?" She said "you can have 5" (mind you, other people had way more than 5 bags each of stuff in the front to sell. there was a promotional post on their Instagram that for this week only Monday through Friday there would be no limit on how many bags they would take in and no most wanted list, they would even take winter clothes to stock up for all seasons after the big 90% off clearance sale). You would think as an owner of a plato's closet that they would be grateful to have so many items coming in to stock up their store and make money off of. That's how a business is supposed to be run. She said due to high inventory coming in, it would be a 3 to 5 hour wait (which I was fine with anyway because I could drop off and do my errands while they sort through). I had a decent amount of designer brand clothes, bags and jewelry that they didn't even take (Michael kors, Steven Madden, kendra Scott, ect. As an example just to paint a mental picture. Not even 2 hours later while I'm out I get a text that my buy is ready to be picked up. Most of my bags looked untouched so I know they must not have gone through everything or even took a peek. I ended up getting $39 for 15 items and they didn't even show me what was in the bin they took which usually they would. I sold to this same location a few years ago under different ownership and never had a problem like this before. As long as Lauren is the owner of this location, I will not be going back to sell or support the business financially. It really is a shame that she seems so nice on social media but is a C U Next Tuesday in person. Most of the other reviews of this store below are negative and have similar experiences/stories so I know now that it's not just me she gave attitude to, its other customers as well. I also noticed on their Instagram they post often that they have to close the store early because they are short staffed and cannot get the hours covered. I now understand why that's the case, because if I had a boss like that, I wouldn't show up to work either. I can't imagine how the employees are treated if she treats the paying customers this way. My advice is if you want to sell your old clothes, I know it's a long trip to Orlando but plato's closet and style encore are right next door to each other in the same shopping plaza. they were great and the employees are respectful and treat you like a human being in the orlando locations. It's much more worth it there and I believe you will get more money for your items( I got over 200 dollars). Just don't give your hard earned money to this establishment. I usually wouldn't write a negative review or bash a small business but I have never had an experience bad enough to do so until yesterday. She deserves this and hopefully karma gets her personally and business wise. In conclusion, I hope this can be even just a little part in making this location tank in sales and fail overall. Thank god I don't ever have to go back again is all I can say. Let this be a lesson to do better and treat people how you'd want to be treated in...

I stopped into your Daytona Beach, FL location today [October 12, 2019] to consign some of my clothes today. Recently this location had added plus size clothes to their inventory, which I was thrilled about because I wear plus sizes and had been unable to shop your stores for myself. I brought about 5 or 6 pieces on hangers concealed in a bag to keep it safe during transport, 2 of those items which still had price tags. All items from Torrid and one brand new tank from Lane Bryant. All totaling probably $200+ retail, the tagged dress alone was retailed for around $80. I was greeted pleasantly, and was told about a 30 min wait, so my husband and I shopped the store. I was looking forward to finding a few things in my size! Unfortunately the plus size selection was very limited, not much name brand as Plato's is named for, but I was able to find one cute top in my size. About 25 minutes go by and I was told they were ready whenever I was. The sales woman kindly says to me unfortunately they can't use anything I brought in saying they had high inventory right now, for dresses. (There were 2 dresses a few tanks, and a plain t-shirt) She goes to hand me my bag, that looks untouched, and when I question their decision, stating I just went through the entire plus size selection, and inventory was definitely NOT high, she responds that she wasn't the one that went through my bag. (This was the same woman who checked me in, and carelessly tossed my bag to the ground after handing it to her) So she then proceeded to say, but she can go through it her self ('again'š) just to make sure. She accepts all but 2 items because if wear, no problem, I know Plato's has a high level of quality attached to their brand. As she is calculating what my clothes add up to, I notice the ONE top in the whole store in my size, is ripped and in poor condition! I was definitely disappointed, I pointed it out and handed it to her, so it didn't get put back out on the sales floor, as in my opinion, it wasn't Plato's Closet quality. The sales woman totals up my clothes, and tells me she can give me $18 and some change for all of it... EIGHTEEN DOLLARS for $200+ retail worth of clothes, 2 of which brand new with tags?! The one top I found, but was damaged, was selling for $13, how could this be?! The team at this location was extremely nice, however, this is not the first time a whole bag of items was not even touched, and just told to me, 'they don't really need this inventory right now'. I feel that I am profiled the moment I walk through your doors, because I don't fit the fashion industry of this year's fashion trends, dressed in designer labels, staff make a biased opinion of what I bring in. Sad. I graciously declined her laughable offer of $18, the resale value of Torrid and Lane Bryant plus size clothes is definitely worth more than that, I have no problem listing on Poshmark, it is a wonderful platform. I am greatly disappointed if this is how your brand Plato's Closet deals with the plus size community. I definitely will not be shopping with Plato's in the future as I had in the past for my teenage...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give these folks ZERO STARS I WOULD I've been to quite a few stores of Plato's closet in Orlando Sanford and now Daytona and I must say they have the absolute worst location and staff. Except for the one guy friendly manager white , slim with glasses he's good with me but everyone else thumbs down. They don't Buy out ANYTHINH but when you walk down their aisles an see the stuff they are trying to resale yet alone push on consumers it's so dengy and out of market compared to what they claim they are looking for or what I've seen folks bring in .been at this location several times and seen many good buys they've passed up compared to their inventory. They pass up on shoes that are hot right now they pass up on clothing people could actually use and wear such as casual attire, urban curban clothing so much more I could list in fact they should just let the homeless shop there. Not to mention this place completely rips you off compared to others and this girl who works there with half head of dreads and half fade cut OMG such a mood blower no customer service which I know they are key in, she's always turning away items never wants to do buyouts and very selective with whom they choose to die buyouts with .Although they are a franchisee no matter what customer service and skills still APPLY. This store deserves 0 stars .they hire some pretty employees that's about it besides that inventory is dengy and employees aren't as welcoming as you'd think in comparison to the Orlando and Sanford stores I've been to. Don't waste your time .in fact they should give most of their stist to the homeless epidemic here in daytDayinstead of holding onto so much that doesn't sell or interest and...
