ATTENTION POSSIBLE GOLD & SILVER SELLERS: If you want to sell gold or silver AVOID Jimmy Smith Jewelers. They will likely waste your time. Search Huntsville Gold & Silver dealers instead.
I had 400 oz of fine silver (4 -100 oz bars) that I was interested in selling so I called Jimmy Smith Jewelers to see if they were interested in buying and the young gentleman that answered the phone told me to come by. The young man would not give me a quote over the phone and said that they would need to see it first and then maybe hold onto it for a few days if Jimmy Smith. I told him I was not interested in that so I would come while he was there.
I drove 10 minutes out of my way and came into the Decatur store and met the staff. They were courteous and told me I would need to speak with Jimmy Smith himself. He was with another customer (only around 2-4 customers in the store at the time). The staff informed him that I was there. I overhead him small talking and chatting with the gentleman for a while and I have no objections to that but after a while it seemed more than business. Mr Smith walked to and from the rear office area a few times and gave me a fake smile with a red face and appeared annoyed or uncomfortable with my presence as he made eye contact with me and walked by. I'm not quite sure why the change in his demeanor. There was a difference in the way he looked when talking to the gentleman and the way he looked when he acknowledged me.
I continued waiting and after 25 minutes I never spoke with Mr. Jimmy Smith. Mr. Jimmy Smith totally wasted my time and my gas driving there. If he was not interested in buying silver they could have simply told me over the phone. I was in his store with over $12,000 worth of silver and I ended up leaving without being able to have a conversation with him.
They wasted my time and gas money. I do not appreciate people asking me to come by and then ignoring me and wasting my time when I arrive. I don't often do reviews but I thought about how much of my time he wasted and then I ended up getting stuck in rush hour traffic after coming back from Huntsville because of the delay they caused. I would have missed the worst of the traffic had I just skipped his store.
I ask anyone wanting to sell gold and/or silver to take my advice and skip this store. At best it was a very inefficient process. None of the other stores I called told me that I may need to drop off my silver. I'm not leaving over $12,000 worth of silver with them while they waste my time while they try to locate a buyer before they give me a quote/price or whatever their...
Read moreI have been a customer of Jimmy Smith Jewelers for over 30 years and have always been treated with quality service. I originally came to know Mr. Jimmy through the racking horse industry that he has so proudly supported. When visiting the store, Mr. Jimmy & staff always provided me with a quality of customer service that goes way beyond five stars. It is a type of customer service that is demonstrated by very few businesses. Due to residing out-of-state, yesterday was the first time, I had been in the business since Mr. Jimmy’s retirement. It was very refreshing to see that Mr. Jimmy’s legacy of customer service lives on through his son Jimmy Ray and his wife, Wendy. Although Mr. Jimmy is missed, Wendy was wonderful in assisting me with my needs & made me a very happy customer. I appreciate her patience & dedication to finding me what I was looking for. I could not have asked for anyone to have been any nicer to me. I highly recommend Jimmy Smith Jewelers for all your...
Read moreI came in just to browse and a charm caught my eye. Was greeted upon entry. Was not hassled or pressured. They allowed me to browse at my own pace, checking in on me, on what I would say perfect timing. Didnt get made to feel unnoticed, unwanted, but was made to feel welcomed and appreciated. I bought a necklace with the charm. I left only to think of having the charm engraved, and upon returning, they remembered my name, the sentiment behind the charm and its off to be engraved as I type. So glad I came here over Kays. edit add So after running into a snag I was unable to pick up my piece in time Friday. I got to the shop early Monday morning by about 5-10 minutes. And I was immediately let in and recognized and the piece was being retrieved. They even gift wrapped it for me. I have not receieved this kind of amazing customer service from a jewelry store since I used to shop at the locally owned in my home town,...
