Books-A-Million — Local services in Decatur

I was killing time and thought I would stop in a couple of weeks ago. I used to go to the one on the other side of town and loved it. This store is way too small, and while it has an okay selection of books, there just simply isn’t enough variety for all forms of readers. There’s no where to sit either, and I suppose I understand that because they want to sell books, not have people sit around and loiter all day. One of the employees when I went made me extremely uncomfortable as well. I have never stolen anything in my life, but one of the employees kept walking over to where ever I was in the short time I was in there. It was probably around 10 times in 15 minutes. I’m a very shy and nervous individual so it really bothered me because I have NEVER been followed around at any store by an employee. After awhile of that and making me (the only customer in the store, mind you) feel super unwelcome and uncomfortable. I made my purchases and left. Staff always remembers me by name! I try to remember to do the surveys because I know it helps the employees meet their quotas every month. They are always helpful and friendly. I wish however that I didn't have so many issues with the website and online ordering, but there is a bigger selection inside the store anyways. The cafe is always clean, I mainly go here to get drinks from Joe muggs. The drinks are delicious, and I get discounts for being a member and also for bringing my own cup. I probably won't renew my membership, just due to issues with getting the benefits online so I can use them in store.. but I will continue to choose Joe muggs over any coffee shop in the area. The drinks are better and the prices are right. Especially the frappes, and the Italian cream sodas.. really everything on the menu is tasty. I was in there in a Sunday with my wife and 4 year old son. There were probably 10 other people in the store and it was 40 minutes before closing time and my son told me he had to go potty, so we went to the restroom and were met by an employee mopping the the floor blocking the door and he told me "Oh I just cleaned the bathroom" and didn't move. I asked him "does that mean he can't use it?" And the employee said "Sorry, it's the bathroom is closed now since I cleaned it" and smiled at me as my 4 year old is telling me he's about to poop his pants. The employee just shrugged at me...
