On December 17th, I visited a Hallmark store with my two children to buy annual ornaments for their mom. Unfortunately, the first store didn't have what we were looking for, but we found the ornaments at a Mason store. Along with my boys choosing ornaments for themselves, we bought a total of 6, including 2 duplicates. Attempting to return the duplicates on December 26th, I was informed of a no-returns policy, posing a challenge as it's difficult to identify duplicates before you give them as a Christmas gift. Consequently, I'm now faced with selling the sought after duplicates on eBay. I also note that Hallmark's store signage doesn't address the no return policy. It is only on the receipt after purchasing. Ornaments are primary reason people visit Hallmark during Christmas....
Read moreI've always had a good experience when shopping at Hallmark stores. I'm an added ornament collector and have all Hallmark ornaments on my tree. I understand it only makes sense that ornaments are not refundable before or after Christmas. The few spoil it for the many who buy ornaments for their event and then think they can return them after they've used them to decorate. I used to work retail and there were women that would actually buy a dress on Friday and return it on Monday after they've warn it for the event on Saturday night.

I constantly have to order wrapping paper, bows, and gift bags online. Now the store is full of knickknacks that collect dust in people's homes. Sometimes it feels like I have stepped back into an 80s country craft show. The employees are always a joy, but we miss seeing the familiar faces that left.
