Today, I visited your store with my two small children to pick up a few items. To minimize germ exposure (as we recently recovered from the flu), I chose to use my own wagon instead of a shopping cart. As a small reward for their good behavior, I allowed my children to each pick out a balloon, and we proceeded to the self-checkout. While ringing out my items, I noticed that an associate closely watched us throughout the entire process, standing nearby. As I inserted my payment into the register, she approached and asked if I needed assistance with the balloons. I explained that I had already rung them in first, along with my other items. In my opinion, this response should have been sufficient. As I exited the store, I noticed her return to the register I had used, seemingly reviewing my transaction. Shortly after, she ran out to the parking lot, calling after me, saying, “Ma’am! I can’t see the balloons on your receipt.” She had printed out my receipt, assuming I hadn’t paid for the balloons. Despite her claim, the balloons were clearly listed. I showed her the receipt, pointing out the balloons I had paid for, and asked, “What made you think I had stolen them?” It was evident she had already decided this before even approaching me. Her response was dismissive and abrupt, as though my question was inappropriate. Her tone came across as condescending, which added to my frustration. This experience left me feeling humiliated and unfairly judged in front of my children. I understand the importance of loss prevention, but this situation was handled poorly. Read moreI love Hannafords. Their Grill or Oven ready tray meals are the best. I recently had to try to learn to cook. Key word, try.. I wasted food, over or under cooked it, it tasted horrible, you name it. Forget the clean up. Then I discovered these dinners. I cook my meals in my air fryer. I open the tray that the dinner comes in and throw it right in the air fryer, most for 15 minutes. They come with a seasoning butter. They sell separate trays with extra seasoned butters. I regret not getting the shrimp scampi one and next time, I will. Often, there is enough leftover for a small lunch the next day. They have a wide variety. From salmon burgers, Chicken and Steak to maple and sage rubbed pork tenderloin. They come with different vegetables. Summer vegetables, asparagus, green beans. It took me a little over a year to figure out, that cooking for one and not knowing how to cook is quite hard and was not working for me . Many times I threw my hands up and ordered take-out. Too many times and too much money. It's great to have a nice, healthy meal at home. All I have to clean up is the air fryer. I hope they never stop selling these. If you need to cook for more than one, they have larger trays, as well. Their bakery is the best. So good, I, try not to look. Their blueberry pies, cookies, muffins. I had a blueberry filled muffin from their bakery and it was everything you would hope it would be. My friends loved them. They were so good I had to share. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Read moreI typically don’t review grocery stores because I feel they’re pretty much the same. However, Hannaford Derry proved to be an upgrade from my day-to-day grocer (Market Basket). I like how welcoming the space feels, the lighting is soft, they have a feature spot for local produce and a great variety of products. Additionally, their staff is the most helpful I’ve encountered in my area. For reference, I had been a customer at MB for years and not once had anyone offered assistance. On the other hand, during my first week trying out Hannaford, while I was picking up a specific brand of milk, an associate approached me and asked how I liked that brand. I said it was great and we use it a lot. He proceeded to give me a discount sticker on this milk carton. I have also tried their pick up service and encountered the same level of above and beyond customer service. I called one hour earlier than my scheduled pick up (without any expectation) just to see if it was possible to pick it up earlier since my husband was nearby. They said yes absolutely he could, my order was ready. Then at the deli counter I briefly mentioned I only needed a small amount of cheese because I was leaving on vacation later that week.
