La Carreta Derry — Restaurant in Derry

My girlfriend and I dined here on 6/24/14 the evening patriots defensive end Chandler Jones was doing an autograph and meet and greet. Which was awesome by the way. However I feel that business must be slow here at La Carreta in Derry, the reason I feel that way is because the service was horrible. Waited over 25+ minutes to get our food, never got checked in on by our waiter once the food arrived to tell him it was horrible. Ground beef was discolored and looked pale grey/white. No natural juices in the chicken or shredded beef. Manager told us it was our fault because they must have been waiting to bring out the food because I was getting my autograph signed. Thats not the case because it wasnt even ready when we sat back down. Had to remind the waiter to get my beer. Also drinks were listed on the receipt incorrectly named different drinks than what we order. Manager said it didnt matter because they were the same price. Im sorry, what I order I want to see listed on my bill. Food was 40$ and for that quality Id rather eat rat excrement. I Cant stand terrible restaurants that exist despite horrible food, service, and experience. Hopefully this discourages all future business at LA CARRETA, IN DERRY NE...

I first went to La Carreta in 2007/8 and loved the quick and exceptional service. Yet, despite never having a bad experience, I stopped going for a while. In April, I decided to try LC again-- my friends and I went to the bar and even though it was extremely busy (being a Friday night and all) we had no problem finding seats at one of the tables. The bartenders were extremely personable and their margaritas and mojitos were super delicious. They are quick to serve you warm chips with salsa and always ensure that you have everything you need. We also order from their dining menu occasionally-- they serve you huge portions (even the kid's menu) and everything is always quick, hot, and fresh. I have been back to LC countless times since then, as it has now become our "go-to" spot. Unfortunately, I cannot provide a recent review of the dining room experience, since we only frequent the bar area. Me and 5 co-workers came here after work today. Our waiter, Perla, had an attitude and was extremely rude the second we sat down stating "Just so you know we DON'T split the checks". Our waiter barely came to check on us, never got a refill on my beverage after asking. Once our bill came, we questioned the bill because we never got a food item & there was an extra margarita added.

The waiter got defensive and stormed off to get the manager. When the manager, Maria, approached, she threatened that we had to pay for our drinks or she would call the police! Did not even ask what the situation was--just threatened to call police!!

We explained our question of the bill: she removed an item that was $5 and our bill came back with additional charges and the "corrected bill" only $1 less. The manager only said she was hearing numerous stories and did not even apologize!

Awful service and awful attitude from the waiter AND manager! Needless to say we paid the bill and all of us will NEVER set foot in a La Carreta...
