I have been a loyal customer with Rent-A-Center in Derry for years, but my recent experience under the management of Beth has been extremely disappointing. I’ve never had issues in the past – the former manager was understanding, communicative, and provided exceptional customer service. Unfortunately, Beth has shown a complete lack of empathy and professionalism. Just two days after making a payment, she sent people to my house to repossess my item, which felt excessive and harassing.
Beth’s approach to communication has only added stress to my life, especially during my pregnancy. She never calls to discuss matters or offer any understanding, relying solely on impersonal and often rude text messages. Despite explaining my situation and being only a few days late on a single item, she continues to treat me with a lack of patience and respect. As someone with experience in management, I believe customer service should always come first, and sadly, this location has lost that touch. Once my current agreement is fulfilled, I will not be returning due to the poor treatment I’ve received.

While I understand she has a business to run, make sure contract agreements are honored she needs to understand that she can’t be threatening or talking down to anyone be it via phone call or text. She shouldn’t be scaring people to extremes, she shouldn’t be talking down to others because they are lacking money at the time she sends a demanding text or leaves a demanding voicemail and she shouldn’t be scaring anyone to the point that they are fearing they will be living on the street and lose everything for being in a situation that they can’t pay immediately as she demands. Also, she shouldn’t be accusing a person refusing to pay when they don’t have the money immediately when she demands it! I had to settle for something else and was told that if I wasn’t happy I could switch it out. When I called to switch it because the color was to light for my decor they had excuse after excuse as to why they couldn’t switch it out for me. I ended up keeping it paying an astronomical amount for something I originally didn’t want. The manager of that store is horrible at customer service.
