We really appreciate all the organic and non GMO food items, as well as the nice new vegan options, but I'm really getting tired of over priced produce that is literally rotting on the shelves, and the expired items in the organic cooler section. We have had to return many spoiled items that have not passed their expiration dates as well. Some employees alerted us that this is common because some of the trucks bringing in cold food items are in fact not refrigerated... Unfortunately Walmart is the most suitable place for reasonably priced produce and non-expired food items at this time.
Hey Central, if your going to hold a Monopoly over the grocery industry in Becker County and now in Perham too, then you have a responsibility to us to provide FRESH and EDIBLE food products AT A REASONABLE PRICE. It's time to pull your heads out of your behinds and give us the quality we deserve. If you can not attain these quality standards maybe it's time to step aside and let a real grocer show you how done.
At this point, Central Market is our last choice for our shopping, we will get what we can from Walmart first, and always take advantage of superior markets when we are in...
Read more"The Fresh Place" my fanny!!! The produce department, in my experience does not live up to this claim. For example, this past Friday, I bought a container of cherry tomatoes. Expensive, perhaps, but so needed in my salads. But, by Sunday, half of them were wrinkled, soft, and even a few had mold. That same Friday, I bought an expensive pre-washed fancy-packaged salad kit that was marked as "use by October 1." So, on October 1, I opened it to use and most of the lettuce and greens were slimy and spoiled. I managed to glean a few leafs for a small salad but had to throw the rest away. I have had similar experienced with blueberries this summer and with strawberries. Also, I discovered that the price for a head of cauliflower or for a package of celery at Central Market has been twice what one can pay at Walmart. I don't want to support Walmart. I would prefer to support my local merchant. But, my patience is wearing thin.
I do have praise for the meat department and for the butchers. Excellent demeanor and always helpful. The checkout staff people...
Read moreHonestly, I love this place more than Walmart. It has a more cozy, sterile environment, more earth-toned, just more relaxing and less hectic in general. The only thing that stops me from shopping here more is the price-ranges. For instance, about 10-12 dollars for a small pack of pine nuts. Now, I don’t know the reason behind this pricing, I just know as a customer I would call it outrageous. But, and especially if you’re more health-conscious, they have lots of nice items, such as a great assortment of Kombucha and an overall awesome organic selection, which, although also variably high in price, is still a worthwhile investment if you’re a shopper. I’m also really glad to say that their produce is good. And, even when the produce is hitting the bare minimum in terms of quality, I still say I much prefer, and trust getting fruits and vegetables from Central Market as opposed to other local market’s. So, overall, a good place. Unless your budget is a tad bit bigger, it might not be a place to shop all the time, but it certainly houses a lot of...
