Haunted "House" located in a suite and next door to bowling alley. Free parking.
What I Got: Two tickets for $25 each.
Pros: The decorations and most of the staff are pretty cool to look at. The characters play their parts well and stay committed to their specific personality. Crazy people, monsters, and serial killers are just a few examples of some scarey people you may run into.
Cons: There is a room with a crazy guy dripping blood from his face and his mouth. He began to get uncomfortably right in our face, but we let him continue the role play. Then he became TOO close - RIGHT in our face and dripping red blood from his mouth. Which is a little disgusting, regardless if it's fake or not they're still putting BODILY FLUIDS on you. We put our hands up to block our faces and continued to step back. When we put our hands up to our faces, he stated that my friend's elbow had hit him and he stopped immediately. In our defense, this man was dripping bodily fluids in our faces and all we did was cover our face. We didn't lash out and hit him, kick him, or even push him away. We were so confused. The "hit" was so far fetched and SO over exaggerated. He made it seem like we just openly came out and slapped him. But there was NO FORCE. We covered our faces... how much force can you really put onto someone else covering YOUR own face...? Like come on. He stopped and keep repeating how we are not allowed to hit people and will get kicked out without hesitation. We told him we were just covering our face and my friend showed us what gesture he did, but he said it didn't matter and we could still get kicked out. He kept saying "I'm not kidding" and "You'll get kicked out." He said "I don't care that much about it but the others will and they'll kick you out." He kept stressing how he didn't care, which obviously showed how much he really did care because he kept yelling at us about it. Even though we felt like we didn't do it and he was over exaggerating, we listened to what he had to say and just said "okay". This was his place of work and we didn't want to challenge his authority, so we just kept apologizing and saying okay.... Like a parent scolding their kids! It became unacceptable when he threatened us with the POLICE and how they would easily LOCK US UP, especially since the police station was so close by. Now, why would you threaten us with the police if we were complying and submitted to everything you said? Why? ESPECIALLY when we are in a time where Caucasians call the police on minorities for no reason. ESPECIALLY. And the fact that he is encouraging and supporting this behavior is sickening.
At this point I said okay and tried to move on.
This man was ruining our experience and threatening us.
It was time to go.
HE STEPPED IN FRONT OF ME to stop us from moving on and CONTINUED to stress how serious he was in getting us locked up. It wasn't until I finally gave him a stern look and a STERN "okay" till he let us go.
This behavior is unacceptable and not how business should be handled. Do not harass your customers and threaten them. Do not lie and over exaggerate to make your point seem more valid.
I understand the importance of security and the need to protect the employees- but this is ridiculous and intolerable.
I'm not saying this was racist, but we all know that if my friend was a pretty little white girl and not a black man - this would not have happened. Period.
Would I Recommend?
NO NOT NEVER
It's next to a BOWLING ALLEY, let's be real here guys. Not worth the $50 I spent at all. Go...
Read moreMy wife & I live in the Birmingham Alabama area and we decided to hit as many haunted houses in the Atlanta area as we could in a night. So Friday, September 29th at 2 pm we left Birmingham headed to the Atlanta area. In this order, we went to Netherworld, Paranoia, Folklore, Nightmareâs Gate, and Hollis Haunted Chicken House. This is my review on Nightmare's Gate.
Nightmareâs Gate- âBest Experienceâ (9 out of 10) total time on site 32 minutes This was the fourth haunt we arrived at. As we pulled in we were almost immediately greeted by monsters in the parking lot. We went to buy tickets and as we were standing in line an evil jack o lantern headed guy was eyeing us which freaked my wife out, but I enjoyed it. We went to take some pics in front of the sign and another monster wanted in on the pic. We then went to the gate and while waiting to go in I got some gum out and 2 monsters walked up with their hands out, but after giving them the gum they acted like they didnât know what to do with it. And of course all the while this is going on the evil jack o lantern guy is still messing with my wife. I say all that to say thisâŚthese guys were great. It was obvious that to them this isnât a job, but a craft. They were all dedicated to being creepy, scary, funny, etc. This is by far the best parking lot experience we have ever had at any haunted house (including Netherworld). As we were leaving the haunt some of the monsters followed us to our car and the jack o lantern guy must have watched what car we got into because as we tried to leave he blocked our way and kicked up dirt like he wanted to play chicken with us. This single actor was the highlight of the night and was not only the MVP of Nightmareâs Gate but the MVP of the whole night. There was only one haunt here and it was hospital break. As soon as we walked in the theme was obvious, we were greeted by a psychotic patient who really wanted to be our friendâŚshe played her role so well it truly felt like we were in a psych ward. We then entered the hospital through a sewer tunnelâŚwhich was very well done, it really looked and felt like a real tunnel. The actors inside were all very good, the costumes & makeup were good. The setup/props were good, the number of actors in each section was good. We also liked that once we left the building some of the haunt extended outside. We never felt like there was a lack of actors in any part of the haunt and even though there is only one haunt here the one they have is very well done and...
Read moreNightmares Gate is an experience that pulls you in from the moment you arrive. The façade is impressive, with three distinct and creatively designed areas, from a creepy swamp scene to a towering manor, and even a glowing paranormal lab. The attention to detail in the set design is incredible, and knowing that the team welds their own catwalks and gates shows their commitment to making this experience stand out.
Inside the manor, the tight crawl spaces and low doors really add to the spooky atmosphere. It's like youâre creeping through attics and hidden spaces, with constant reminders to watch your step, which amps up the tension. My personal favorite, though, is the swamp area. With its beautiful waterfall, rickety bridge, and eerie fog, itâs an experience on its ownâeven without actors, the design alone is incredible. Iâm sad to hear itâll be gone after this season because itâs a highlight of the entire haunt.
The actors do a great job with what theyâre given, and while thereâs no cohesive storyline, each performer brings their own flavor to the scenes. Itâs clear they care about the safety of the patrons, tooâwhen a girl in our group got scared and ran into a wall, the actors responded immediately and made sure she was okay.
Overall, Nightmares Gate is a visual and atmospheric experience that sets itself apart through creative design and immersive sets. Itâs worth a visit, especially if you love unique, spooky...
