BEWARE WALK-IN CLINIC!!!!
I was on vacation and became ill. I am a nurse. I am not an idiot. However, I was made to feel like an idiot at this clinic. If I was not so desperate for medication I would have left.
I had the unfortunate displeasure of being seen by the NP, Manouchcar Pierre-Val. She was a nasty, horrible woman from my first seeing her. While I was checking in the on the computer a woman from Germany who did not know how to work the computer came up. A pharmacy tech came over to help her with the computer. The computer was frozen, so the pharmacy tech went and knocked on the door of the health clinic to ask the NP to help this woman. Ms. Pierre-Val came out of the room and screamed, "YOU DO NOT KNOCK ON THE DOOR WHEN I AM WITH A PATIENT. WHAT DO YOU NEED HELP WITH?" The pharmacy tech replied, "This woman does not know how to use the computer, she needs help checking in." The NP again screamed at all of us. I was using the other computer and just stared at her as this was all happening. There is a help desk number listed by the computer, but the NP did not tell her to use the help desk number. The pharmacy tech told the woman from Germany to sit down and she could ask for help when the NP was done with the patient. I went over and helped the woman call the help desk to get checked in.
The male patient exited the room and I waited 15 minutes until my name was called. Ms. Pierre-Val went and sat down at her computer and asked me what my complaint was without making eye contact with me. She seemed most concerned with getting all of my identification and insurance information. I came in with complaints of a sore throat for 3 days. I told her it started to get really bad the night before and it kept me awake all night. She replies, SO IT HAS ONLY HURT FOR ONE DAY THEN???" I restated that it had hurt for three days, only last night becoming quite uncomfortable. She looked in my throat and said, "It's really not even red, it's probably just a virus." She did the quick strep test. When the strep test came back positive she told me my results in a surprised voice. Her reaction was like wow maybe I should insert my foot into my mouth. She sent my RX to the pharmacy and sent me on my merry way. The entire interaction with her was almost unbearable. She made me SO UNCOMFORTABLE.
I was sitting out in the waiting room waiting for my RX for another 15 minutes and the woman from Germany was still waiting. There was now another couple in the waiting room wishing to be seen. The woman from Germany was complaining to the couple that she had now been waiting more than one hour. The man went and knocked on the door and said that the sick German woman had been waiting more than one hour. The NP came out and rudely said, "Well I'm the only one here so people need to wait." It had been 20 minutes since I had left the room, so I'm not sure what she was doing in there and it was making people in the waiting room upset. The couple was so taken aback with how rude the NP's response was that they left and said they were not going to deal with the NP's "nasty attitude."
From a healthcare professional's perspective Mr. Pierre-Val has NO BEDSIDE MANNER. She is nasty and rude. She will make you feel like you're a bother during your entire, uncomfortable interaction with her. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE service!!!
Sidenote, my mother also needed to be seen because she was having similar symptoms. I took her to the Walgreens clinic located at 8021 International Drive. The NP there was AMAZING. She was so kind and sweet. I highly recommend this...
Read moreI have been using this walgreens for the past five years and it was probably the best in central Florida until about 3 weeks ago when the pharmacy manager Ritesh Patel stopped working there. Whenever you came in he treated you like you had been friends forever, and always went the extra mile for his customers. He always made time to talk to you to find out how your life was going and was always a sympathetic ear when you were having either just a bad day or had just got the worst news from your doctor like a cancer diagnosis. No matter what he was doing he would help you through it with honest answers and words of inspiration. And his shoulder was always figuratively there for you to lean on. Since his departure from this walgreens I've never been treated with more callousness or disrespect from the new pharmacists that took his place!!! I've had to try to find a new pharmacy close to my work in Windermere and so far no luck. It's been two weeks since they basically treated me like garbage and I really think walgreens should do whatever it takes to get Ritesh back. I ended up having to fill all my prescriptions in downtown Orlando 30 minutes from my work and I just don't know if I will have the time every month to fight lunch hour traffic on I-4 to get to downtown to fill my prescriptions and back to windermere without missing a lot of work. I also have refills left at the sand lake walgreens but I don't feel like having myself treated like that again so I guess they're going to stay there. So I would ask anyone who uses that walgreens to find a new pharmacy unless Ritesh returns but if you don't mind being treated like you're nothing by all means...
Read moreI went to the Healthcare Clinic at this Walgreens in January 2013. I spent 25 minutes with the nurse. I have high deductible insurance, and when I received my bill in the mail, they tried charging me $163. The visit with the nurse was charged at $122. My EOB had it coded at a visit longer than 45 minutes. As soon I received the bill, I disputed it with the billing department. The opened an inquiry with the nurse. I continued to receive bills, and I continued to call billing every time I did. They always indicated I did not need to pay the bill because they were waiting on the nurses response. The last time I spoke with Walgreens' billing was in 8/2013, and they said they were still investigating because the nurse hadn't responded. They sent my bill to a collections agency with no warning or call to me. I had to file a complaint with the BBB to get this straightened out. In retrospect, I probably should have just paid the incorrect and inflated bill to save myself heartache, but I don't like being taken advantage of. I will NEVER visit...
