We flew to Orlando on 6th March spending 10 days at this resort. The resort is a 45 min bus ride to Orlando Central bus station. We bought seniors 7 day travel passes on Lynx buses for $8 each. Normal adult passes are $16 for 7 days. We did 1 day with Uber but then took the bus for the remainder and saved loads. Buses depart Palm Parkway every 30 mins. We had a king suite with a tub. The positioning of the tub is very unusual esp if like us you are from England. The tub is directly in line with a nighttime walk to the toilet. I managed to seriously bash my knee on the marble surround and removed the skin from my right leg. Whoever thought of placing the tub and surround directly between the bed and toilet is an idiot and who uses baths anymore anyway, so be careful and give the tub a very wide berth. Overall the room is clean, the bed comfortable, has a good size tv, shower, microwave, fridge and coffee maker that is easy to use with the coffee and condiments provided. Reception hand out free bottles of water and coffee etc. The room had one of those electronic safes and the complex is quite secure with a strong security presence. The rooms are not cleaned everyday so you have to make your own bed, but then this is not a 4 or 5 star resort and the prices fit accordingly. There are no lifts in the blocks which are three storey so I don't know how you would negotiate the steps if you were disabled. The whole place is quite spread out but really only a couple of minutes walk from reception. There is a pool but my wife and I did not use it but a lot did and seems popular with kids having a large fake volcano in the middle of it. Facilities are sparse. There is no entertainment other than the pool, no bar, only a small shop and burger/pizza bar. But, let's face it, nobody is in Orlando to laze around the hotel when you have all the theme parks within a short drive of the hotel. We went to cape canaveral and the Kennedy Space Centre and boy was it worth it.||Food...... Orlando is huge and there are many many places to eat but be careful. We were told to go to a Brazilian steak house in International Drive which is Orlando's tourist trap. We were told to go to this all you can eat place by an Uber driver called Cafe Mineiro Brazilian Steakhouse and wish that we had not. I had the warm buffet whilst my wife had the cold and we both had identical (fatty) meat carved at the table most of which was below par. By 2am I had severe nauseousness and by 9am I was throwing up into the waste bucket that I had removed from the toilet. So I guess it was the warm buffet! I lost a whole day in bed and the kicker was that the meal came to $10 more than our last meal in El Patron which is basically just round the corner from the hotel, is fantastic, food great, good atmosphere etc. So if you want to be ill l, don't go there, but visit international drive and I'm sure you won't be disappointed as I looked at their TripAdvisor reviews the next day and I'm not the only one. I wish I had looked first but there you go. We also visited Osphere Neighborhood Grill and Bar which is situated right next to Lake Eola and near Publix in Orlando. Do go there it's lovely and we went there 2 or 3 times. The food is great and the cocktails strong! Seating inside or out viewing the lake.||Publix supermarket is a 30 min walk away from the hotel on S Apopka Vineland Road. There is also a Publix at Eola Lake Park.||There is a Liquor store called ABC a short walk from the hotel (next block) and a supermarket called Winn Dixie in the same lot. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Hilton Vacation Club cypress point and if we returned to Orlando would not refuse staying there.||An Uber ride there from the airport is around $30.||When we checked in, we were told that our room deposit would be credited to our account after 7 days. Well it's been nearly 20 days now and still no refund. I approached the hotel and they sent me an email which contained an attachment perporting to be a copy of the refund slip issued on 17th March. Im a bit annoyed because I have had to raise a dispute with American Express who say that it could take up to eight weeks for the dispute to trickle through the channels. It's a shame that our stay has been blighted by this and certainly gives us pause to consider if we should ever use...
Read moreThe two stars are a gift only because the location is quite convenient. However, we are HGV members and this was our first stay using our membership. While I know I got quite the "deal" on the cost to us, I can say with all sincerity that I'd never stay here again. We were required to book three nights...we left after two. Where to begin...
First, we were lucky to be given a first floor room. We were in a studio that we found to be adjoining to a 2 bedroom next door. Upon entering the room, we were immediately hit with the fact that the ONLY thing not in the main room was the toilet. The shower, sink and a bathtub were all in the one room with the bathtub actually sitting oddly in the middle of the room! There was a desk with a chair in the room but it proved worthless as it held a lamp, the tv and a tray with the coffeemaker, cups and coffee/creamer leaving no space to do anything.
The next thing we noticed after being in the room a short time is that the walls are paper thin. I mean, REALLY THIN! When the people in the room next door came to their room we heard every movement, word they spoke, everything as their door was literally right next to ours (as I said, we were adjoining rooms). We heard them talking all night. We heard their poker game, we heard the shuffling of cards, we knew all their plans for the next day as we heard every bit of conversation even though they weren't speaking abnormally loudly. Additionally, when we turned out our lights at night, we could see the light from their room very clearly over the top of the door between the two rooms. The ice machine was about 15 feet from our door and we heard it so well that one would think our door was open! People coming to and leaving their rooms upstairs could be heard at all hours. I've never been in such a loud room.
Also because the door between the rooms is in no way insulated, we could smell the breakfast they made quite easily. We'd left for about two hours to go to breakfast ourselves and came back to the thick smell of their food in our room. UHHGG! Who wants that???
The shower was a joke as it took over two minutes to get hot water the first shower, over four minutes to get hot water for the second shower and the two showers the next day both took more than 2.5 minutes for hot water to appear! They have a sign talking about ways to be "energy and resource efficient", with one suggestion being to not take long showers. Well, with no hot water, how many gallons are just going right down the drain before one an even step in?
When they sent me a text asking how things were and I replied, I did note that I knew there was nothing that could be done as all of this was out of the control of anyone working at the hotel. I mean, it's not like they can come install thicker walls or anything. However, the comment from "Bryan" in his reply regarding the desk being useless even to just sit and eat a snack (again, because they'd loaded it up with other things leaving no room for anything) was that "we do encourage you to book a 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom as they do come fully furnished". WHAT? Why would my husband and I need a two or three bedroom??? Maybe if that giant bathtub wasn't in the middle of the room, Hilton could have a small table with two chairs.
The bed was hard as a rock so sleep was awful.
Now, the positives - location is very convenient to local attractions. The air conditioner worked quite well and there was a ceiling fan which we like. The room size was good it was just poorly designed. The pool goes to almost 5 feet which we liked.
I know this was not an original Hilton Grand Vacations property. However, I'd say before putting the Hilton name on it, maybe they should have dug a bit deeper in those pockets and refurbed it better.
As I said, we had a three night reservation and left after two and have no plans...
Read moreWe checked in on October 10th & checked out on October 11th. We were supposed to stay until the 20th. We were told that we would be treated like VIPs as we checked in as timeshare owners. Unfortunately, I found a cockroach infestation in our room around 11 pm. I took photos. There were about 20. After driving all day, we were so exhausted and this was a horrible start to our honeymoon. I was in tears. We went to the front desk & the woman offered to move us to a new room. We decided to give it a try. We inspected the room before entering & found a cockroach on the bed after turning the light on. My husband was able to kill it & took it over to the front desk to show the woman. I understand that Florida is known for having lots of crawlers during certain seasons but this is unacceptable. I asked to be moved to the sister property across the street. She told me that was not possible & we would have to call the timeshare in the morning. She offered to move us to yet another room but this time on the third floor. The other two rooms were floor level. We requested a meeting with the manager first thing in the morning. We inspected the third room (by this point it was almost 1 am & we were so sleep deprived from driving 12 hours that day from Pennsylvania. We didn’t find any roaches so we decided to sleep there for the night & call the timeshare in the morning. We left our luggage closed up tight. I would have went to stay at another hotel until this was resolved but I’ll admit that I was completely exhausted. The next day, I went over for the meeting with the assistant manager around 7:30/8 am. I showed her a photo of the infestation in the first room. She didn’t apologize nor seemed concerned in the slightest bit. She was almost expressionless. It was shocking. If I were the manager, I would have thanked the guest for finding where the roaches were coming from so that I could let the exterminator know exactly where. She told me the same thing as the woman the previous night, that I would need to call the timeshare. She said that she would send an email but that was it. Unfortunately, the timeshare headquarters didn’t open until 9 am pacific time. We had Disney tickets and didn’t let this ruin our day. We went to the park while my parents handled calling. Hilton Vacation Club (formally known as Diamond) were so amazing & understanding - they moved us to an incredible resort about 20 minutes away. It’s called Mystic Dunes Resort & Golf Club. We didn’t find a single critter in sight. Cypress has the potential to be an awesome resort. It’s in a perfect location for the parks. The amenities are great. If they don’t get this roach infestation under control, they are in big trouble. The first room had about 15 baby roaches & a few large ones. We initially discovered the infestation when a very large roach crawled over my husband when he was watching football on the couch. That is when I inspected the entire place & found all of the babies & other large ones. Seeing the small ones only mean that they will continue to multiple quickly. I do not recommend this resort until they extensively inspect the whole building for roach nests & properly exterminate the...
