Living in Orlando for over 20 years, I've seen multiple local Winn Dixie's close down. We decided to drive over 45 minutes to the closest store.
Our main goal was to see if their fried chicken was the same. We both dislike Publix fried chicken, and we wanted to see if Winn Dixie could live up to our nostalgia.
Bright, clean, but sporadically arranged store. Reminds me of an asian grocery market based on the layout. Few good deals here and there, but for the most part, they are at Publix price points. I chalked it up to the touristy area.
Grabbed some fried chicken (there were only three out) and a few other miscellaneous things. Beer was on sale, so we grabbed a 24 pack of Miller Lite advertised at $21.99.
Made the mistake of not looking at every item at checkout. When I get back to the house, we realized that they over charged for the beer. Instead of $21.99 it was a shocking $32.49.
Now things can happen. I should have checked the price at the register. But honestly, the fact that beer is normally $32.49 is crazy. Publix ($25.99), Walmart ($23.99), Target (24.99), etc. They are charging shady gas station prices and advertising a sale.
I would have drove back, but honestly between gas/tolls/time it was not worth it. Wife was on PTO, and we didn't want to waste xmas planning time.
The fried chicken was awesome, but the whole transaction thing left a sour taste.
Probably won't be back. It's a long drive for some fried chicken. Make sure to check the prices at the register. Now I'm not as surprised that so many locations have closed.

Read moreI wish I could give zero star for this specific employee at the customer service, Gidette was her name, I came in for money order and she asked me how much, I told her $3000, then she said we don’t do that!!! I was like maam, I am a regular customer and I do money orders here every year for my kids school, and almost same amount more or less, and then she goes im “gana” need your ID! I had it right in my hand! You can go and check the cameras, and then I asked for a different employee actually she used to help me with that money order, as I said im a regular customer, they all know me , and she goes like yeah, she works here, and then I told her I would like to talk to that person, and then she said oh she is isn’t here, and I told her you just said she is here, then she said well , you asked me if she works here!!!! I said I never asked you if she still works here!? I know she works here , I saw her couple days ago!!? Hello! Miss Guiddette seems like she hates her job, she looks sleepy and careless and puts words in my mouth, she doesn’t seem like she cares or even wants to be here . She should figure out a different post or job that suits her. Windixi is convenient place for me, but I might not return to this place af far for customer service, unless miss debby is there, I wont be taking any services from miss guiddette, I cane from my job which is all about customer service, and I cane show you hundreds of surveys about me , I care about my customers even in my worst day, I still walk to my customers with...
Read moreI recently had an uncomfortable experience at this Winn-Dixie location that I feel needs to be addressed. While using the self-checkout, I noticed a cashier repeatedly following me around and closely monitoring my actions. This behavior made me feel extremely uneasy and singled out, as it seemed unnecessary and invasive. I understand the need for loss prevention and store security, but there’s a respectful way to ensure that without making customers feel targeted or distrusted.
As a paying customer, I expect to shop in an environment where I feel comfortable and respected. No one should have to feel watched or profiled while simply trying to purchase their groceries. This kind of experience can discourage people from returning to the store, which is unfortunate because I’ve previously enjoyed shopping here.
I hope that management takes this feedback seriously and provides proper training to staff on how to approach these situations with more professionalism and courtesy. Every customer deserves to feel valued and treated with fairness, regardless of...
