I have spent several nights at the hotel while visiting the Orlando area. My hard-earned points were used to ‘pay’ for my stay.
Summarizing my stay, I would say that this is an average hotel, expensively priced due to its location (10-15 minutes from all the Disney parks). Had it been situated in a ‘regular’ location, the price should have been half of what they charge.
The hotel charges almost 18 USD per day for the privilege of parking your vehicle in their parking lot. This adds up quickly when staying multiple nights as I did.
The ‘soft’ product, i.e. the customer service was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. I believe that they try to do their best with what they can do.
The problem with the hotel is the ‘hard product’. The hotel needs to be refurbished. There are noticeable signs throughout the hotel that it is due for an overhaul. In public areas, carpets are frayed, elevators are very slow etc…
My room had multiple maintenance related issues. The shower head had poor flow, no matter what setting I chose. The holding bar in the shower was loose and looked like it was about to detach from the wall.
One design flaw was my room’s main door security latch. It somehow closed when I/housekeeping left the room. When I returned to the hotel late at night after a long day, I could not get back into my room. The hotel desk manager had to call the maintenance person to try and open the latch from outside of the room. After multiple attempts he managed to do so. Kudos to him but this should not happen.
The room décor is modern but ‘tired’.
The room was huge, geared towards a family with small children. The room has a queen-sized bed and a double bunk bed.
The room did not have a view worth mentioning.
The room walls are thin as I could hear my neighbors.
There were 2 TVs with 2 separate remotes. Each remote kept activating the other TV which made turning the TV on/off/flipping channels frustrating.
The room did not have a central control switch/button to turn all the room lights on/off. I had to individually turn each light on/off. I would expect a modern hotel to have this option.
The room's HVAC system was noisy.
The room came with an empty fridge which was convenient to store perishables in.
The room safe easily accommodated my 15” laptop.
The Wi-Fi signal was average and was not password protected.
I found the bed to be comfortable, providing a good night’s sleep.
There was plenty of storage space in drawers/closet.
Housekeeping visited every other day and did a good job cleaning the room.
The free hotel breakfast is very average and at best might serve as a quick morning snack/energy boost.
My hotel stay proved to be one of the weakest links of my Orlando vacation. This was my most disappointing stay at a Hyatt branded hotel. My expectations were by no means high but compared to other Hyatt Place hotels that I stayed in; this did not meet the same standards.
I assume that the hotel management is aware that the hotel location and constant flow of tourists/visitors to the area enable them to charge a high price and to differ the refurbishment of the property. I find this unacceptable and, in my view, it hurts the...
Read moreThis has to be the worst Hyatt hotel I've ever stayed at. My husband and I checked and we were given a room that had blood stains on the comforter/duvet. We didn't notice until one morning where we woke up and the covering had moved during sleep. It was the day to have sheets changed so we waited until that happened to see if they would change it out with being able to see all the stains. They did not.
We also had opened our fridge to put some waters and food in and it smelled like an animal died in the fridge and it did not seem to be cold. It was so bad we could smell it in the bathroom while showering. We notified the front desk and they assured us housekeeping would change out the sheets comforter while we were out. The front desk said they would change the whole fridge out for us as well.
We arrived back at our hotel to find the fridge didn't smell quite as bad (couldn't tell if it was a new one), but the same comforter and red-orange stains on the sheets (not bed bugs, as we check for that). We went back down to the front desk and they had us move rooms.
Our new room, while cleaner and with a working fridge, had a towel bar in the shower literally falling out of the wall and the bathroom lights flickering constantly. The a/c unit also sounded like the whole building was going to collapse around us, almost fire alarm-like and was exceptionally loud, it woke us during the night even with ear plugs.
This is also a pet-friendly hotel, which I do appreciate, but the insulation is such that if there's a dog around you, you WILL hear it barking. The rooms also have Ethernet cables in them still, which is just... I don't know, ridiculous? It would be far more useful to have any USB or USB-C ports instead of Ethernet cables, like so many other Hyatt Place hotels.
As far as other amenities, the shuttle service to/from the parks is a joke. They don't even have the correct parks listed on their website. When I called to check prior to booking, the front desk attendant said some along the lines of, "Oh yeah that's been wrong on the website for a while we need to update it." They only go to 1 Disney Park, Epcot, and it doesn't leave until 9:45am, well after most parks are open (Epcot opens at 10am on Sunday in low season). You cannot get a return ride without an outgoing ride so it was useless to us, as we wanted to be at the parks at open. The location of the hotel, luckily, is such that a Lyft/Uber to the parks generally wasn't much more than $10-20 per ride. This definitely made it a more expensive trip than we expected but figured the price of the hotel made up for it.
As far as the onsite food/bar, we were told the food/bar would be open Wednesday-Saturday from 5-9 PM during our stay. It was not open Wednesday and there was no indication of when it would be or what happened, which was a surprise when we showed up Wednesday night after going to a park.
Breakfast was fine; about what you'd expect from a Hyatt Place continental breakfast.
We spent less than $1000 for a 7 night, 8 day stay at this hotel. If you're okay with the somewhat unclean, outdated, and deteriorating rooms for that price, this might be the...
Read moreHello, I was supposed to stay at the Hyatt Orlando, the closest hotel to Disney Springs, on Friday, the 26th of September. Unfortunately, our stay never happened. Our flight was scheduled to land in Orlando at midnight. After my husband spoke with the supervisor, Jenna, we were assured that our room would be held for us.||Fast forward to midnight, and we had four children (ranging in age from seven months to eleven) with us. We were transported to the hotel via Uber, only to be informed by Lilly, the night front desk lady, that our room had been canceled and that they were completely booked for the night. I mentioned the promises Jenna had made, hoping that they might be documented somewhere, but Lilly denied any knowledge of such a situation. She revealed that if it was Jenna we had spoken with, she often makes promises during the day that she cannot keep.||To make matters worse, our reservation was canceled at 10 p.m. while we were still in the air. Within the next two hours, they had sold off our room without any prior notice. Lilly attempted to reach the supervisor on call, Phillip, but he was no help. He confirmed that the cancellation was final, that they stood by their decision, and that they were booked. He also suggested that the closest Hyatt was the Regency, which would cost us $600 per night.||As a mother traveling from another state with a seven-month-old at midnight, I was furious. I had taken the initiative to find a customer service number for Hyatt on my own, as it wasn’t suggested to me. I felt that they had abandoned me and my children.||The Hyatt customer service line eventually found a room for us and asked Lilly to make arrangements for a ride to the other Hyatt hotel. However, Lilly declined and couldn’t even do that. I asked Lilly to have Phillip reach me, but he never called back.||The next day arrived, and nothing had happened. I had another reservation at the Hyatt for the following Sunday, and I was determined to avoid a similar situation in the future. However, Phillip never called back. I called the hotel three times on different days, but there was no response. I checked in on Sunday, and the receptionist informed us that Phillip was in the hotel and would inform him that we were still waiting. To this day, the receptionist, if he even exists, has not reached out to address me. The room had leftover food in the fridge and was muggy and unpleasant. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel; they are utterly pathetic and lack any customer service. The supervisors are particularly appalling: Jenna makes false promises, Lilly is unable to fulfill them, and the worst of all is Phillip, who leads with fear of conflict and lacks any resolution. He is probably still hiding somewhere. Phillip, you can finally come out now! I’ve already left the state! In all honesty, if I were responsible for leaving a traveling mom at midnight outside with her four children (seven months, four years, eight, and eleven), I would also recommend going MIA out of fear. But this is just pathetic! Do better as a hotel near Disney, catering to families traveling...
