Really nice clean Halal market. First of I am a white guy from midwest. These guys here are so nice, helpful and friendly. We get the cooked chicken and ask for garlic sauce. They well great pitas and their meat section is awesome. Meat quality is similar to whole foods and they will butcher things that you like and do special orders. These guys know their stuff. Produce is limited but high quality. Also good mortadela and great olives at about half of supermarket price. I used to live in Oakland and appreciate specialty places like this. I have picked up meats at sprouts and safeway and brought them home opened them up and they were already spoiled. They serve raw hamburger meat in plastic bags with no pad to soak up blood. After several days in my fridge meat didn't turn brown and there was no blood in bag. Halal is very strict about way animals are to be butchered (similar to way hunters butcher) where animal has to have blood drained. You would think you would pay a ton for this...

Poor customer service. Not all non vegetarians eat all kind of meat. Seems like this guy at this shop who spoke to me is a Manager expecting me to buy without questioning him. As soon as I choose the chicken ,he didn't even wait till I complete ,he started slicing it with the machine. I tried asking him to cut it with knife. I was concerned if the same blade was used to slice other meat. When he was done slicing it. I asked him in a casual tone " you guys don't use knife ?" Instead of being polite to his customer ,he replied - "if you don't want to buy, you don't have to buy this" he started saying machine is the fastest process, we don't have knife to cut the chicken bone. I wonder how a butcher doesn't have a knife to cut his meat and owns a store. So, what is the difference between buying meat from stores like this to getting from foodMarts. Rahma Market is clean, organized and the staff is very friendly, always providing fantastic service! They have a great Halal meat selection. I'm not sure why there are complaints on paying more for credit cards, most businesses have a cash discount or a surcharge, it's nothing new. Just pay cash if you don't want to pay the higher price it's that simple. Do you complain when your credit card company charges you to have the card? You have an option. Businesses have been hit hard with higher prices from their distributors and so the costs are either going to higher pricing overall with no cash discount at least they are offering you the same price if you pay cash. I have seen 10-20% increase in prices in other places, and yes food places. You probably didn't even notice because they didn't give you an option for a lower price.
